Umm... can't see him commiting without ever setting foot on campus, parents meeting academic advisors and all that.

That would take serious snake oil.

On the other hand why wouldn't he just say "I'm Nebraska" today.  Since he already is.

Confusing.

With JMFH picking off committed recruits left and right like the American Sniper, Nebraska might as well have Omaha's finest, Warren Buffett hold a gun to the kid's head while he makes his announcement.  Might as well, since it's a foregone conclusion.

I mean if he's already committed to Nebraska there would be nothing to announce, right? He never made a trip to Michigan so I don't see how he would flip. It's a weird time of the year.

Unless I'm mistaken, the kid is from Nebraska. It would be like a guy from the Detroit area announcing on 97.1 The Ticket. It doesn't necessarily mean Michigan is out of the picture. Although I think it would be odd to make a radio announcement and not commit to the local team. But I don't think announcing on a Nebraska station means he is announcing for Nebraska.

Well, I was hoping to help by having the embed display the tweet itself, just to spruce it up a bit for the OP. Apparently, getting social media to work in the OP is trickier than I first thought, so sorry about that. My bad.

It seems like the signs point to him staying with Nebraska, although this is another case where I would not mind my gut being wrong. Of course, having a stomach virus at the moment, my gut is all sorts of wrong anyway.

He's the top-rated recruit in the state, which means everyone in town really, really wants him to go to Nebraska. I was in high school in Omaha during the Callahan days and people were really pissed that he wouldn't recruit at all in state and the top players were leaving (usually to Iowa).

Since Neal has been open about his interest in other schools, at one point stating Oregon was his leader, his commitment was pretty thin. Thus, telling folks in town that he is in fact solid on his Huskers commitment is a good way to get people off his back. Plus, going on sports radio to have people tell him how awesome he is is a fun experience for anyone, especially high school kids.

When I searched to see who he was, I saw a link to his tweet last night where he tweeted about being excited bcus his boy is playing at Kansas, and it's only a couple hours from Lincoln.

Yeah if he actually did chose Michigan on a Husker sports radio show while being a native of Omaha, that would be one of the largest recruiting trolls since...

For those who don't know, Kevin Hart apparently trolled his coaches, parents and basically the entire town of Fernley, NV by committing to Cal over Oregon at his high school's assembly in 2008. Problem was he didn't actually have a football scholarship offer from either school. He made the whole thing up. Super sad IMO.

I always think about this case every signing day because it shows how young kids so badly want to play big time, Division I football. Even though he lied to just about everyone he knew, I actually felt really bad for this kid because it showcases how hyped of an event signing day and recruiting in general have become.

I feel bad that that picture made me chuckle.  I do remember that whole self-inflicted debacle.  Lucky for him he has a common enough name in addition to it being shared by a now-famous comedian.  As a result, he's not the first result on a Google search for that name.

Lets say they you received an offer today, but were told that they are only taking one DE this year. They have other offers out there so first one in gets the spot.

He could be set on Michigan without visiting, depending on the confidence of his parents.

Just trying to be an optimist.
