2015 adidas gear: no more highlighter Maize?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

So, the 2015 gear is starting to trickle out on MDen.

Kind of interesting that adidas is changing over to the Nike Maize color, it appears. But then you have other new gear that isn't original Maize.

As for most of the gear designs: oy. I hope it gets better this fall.

The Harbaugh shirt isn't up for sale on the site yet, but when it is, the credit card comes out. Also not up yet is that pair of shorts in this photo-

person on MGoBlog that likes the brighter shade of "maize"...which is strange because I'm 53 so you'd think I would be more of a traditionalist.  I thought it looked amazing UTL though.

Make the M on the hat smaller and I'll buy one.  Adidas is notoriosly bad with proportions.  The New Era hat is perfect.

Yeah, but I think they would limit the options for shoes if you're going to coordinate for work or something like that. Maybe a medium brown, but I can't see them with black. Either way, I am pretty sure they are something that my wife would make mysteriously disappear in a purge for Salvation Army items if I did indeed purchase them, and perhaps rightly so.

Whoever designed that wolverine eye in the pocket of that T shirt needs to be fired.

That's horrible. Looks like someone screwed up and was just like 'ehhh, leave it or we'll miss the due deadline'.

I hate those shorts so much. It looks like you're sagging your pants when you wear them because the color changes above the crotch, creating an optical illusion that you're wearing gray underwear under blue shorts. A shame because I would like them if they were just solid blue. The rest of this stuff is just boring. Give me Nike or underarmour or anyone that can design modern clothing.

Apparently Adidas laid off anyone on their staff with an understanding of what looks good.  That polo makes Baby Jesus cry.

WD, what Harbaugh shirt are you referrencing?  I usually buy the sideline shirt every year.  Unless I see this in person and it shocks me that thing should be lit on fire.

Very happy to see they changed the color, it looks much better that way. As for the actual designs, not a fan of most of them. Adidas really needs to get their shit together

they should just go all the way and make the cumberbund part flesh-colored and then put a hairy ass-crack on the rear.

So, in the pictures themselves there is about 4 shades of yellow.  How is that evidence that adidas is changing the color?  Do you have evidence?  Or did you just use a polarizing headline to get click?  You should work at MLive.

with the Wolverine in the pocket and those shorts are completely bad ass. Maybe not for older men like you but my age could definitely pull them off.

Two or three years ago, the University had an official committee to develop a campus-wide brand in preparation for the new Capital Campaign.  Part of this was to have a university-wide agreement on exactly what shade of yellow "maize" was.  Athletics was part of this negotiation.  It was determined that THESE were the "maize" and "blue" colors of Michigan.  http://vpcomm.umich.edu/brand/style-guide/design-principles/colors

Units have been given a period of time to phase in the new colors.  Moving forward you should see much less variation  in the color "maize".

Shoot me now, but I actually don't care much for the color maize in the first place... I love that our colors are called Maize & Blue and everyone knows it, I love Maize Outs in the stadium, I love the block M, I love the maize bball uniforms, but every other application of the color Maize looks pretty garish in my opinion.

When you actually walk through campus, there is basically nothing that reminds of you of the color Maize. Even most of the building signs are just blue with white lettering. To me, unless it's a muted, deeper marigold-ish hue, "maize" doesn't jive at all with an upscale, semi-private, historical, elite academic university that Michigan is. The same way purple makes Northwestern seem childish and less legit to me.

Ugh...the majority of that is atrocious. Who designs this shit? The white pullover, the polo and the classic hat are the only things I would ever consider wearing.
