2014 RB Prospect Justin Jackson

Submitted by StephenRKass on

Tremendous has up a nice intro piece on 2014 RB Justin Jackson from Carol Stream, Illinois. Borges and Hecklinski have been to his high school, and he is apparently a RB candidate next year (LINK:  http://www.michigantremendous.com/)

I don't normally put up recruiting posts, but this was of personal interest:  Jackson plays for local high school Glenbard North, maybe 5 minutes from my home. This team has overachieved, and is playing this Saturday for the state championship in the largest division (8A) in Illinois. They have been the underdog the last two weeks, and will be the underdog in the championship game.

Glenbard North has won partially because of the running of Justin Jackson. They have won partially because of the heady leadership of QB Brian Murphy, heading to Michigan next year as a premier wrestler with a full scholarship. But they have won largely because of their line play on both offense and defense, especially defense. And both Jackson and Murphy play both ways all game. It is fun watching and following a well coached team that just does things the way they should be done.

I watched Jackson's film last week for the first time, and I thought he looked like a pretty solid prospect.  He looks like a legitimate tailback rather than the bowling balls that Michigan seems to be really aiming for lately (Rawls, Smith, Shallman, Green, etc.).

great cuts. His catch at 2:51 shows a lot of athleticism. At first he doesn't seem fast, but no one catches him on long runs and his competition is fairly strong. He could be very productive in B1G with 20 lbs and 2+ years of speed/agility training.

You're right on the button as far as the overachievement goes. That's exactly how he described it himself.

Glenbard North will play Mount Carmel for the 8A title this weekend. Mount Carmel has DT prospect Enoch Smith Jr., C Nathan Oquendo and RB Matthew Domer (all 2014). Smith is the best of the three and was one of the top junior campers last summer.

Glenbard North has only lost one game this year... To the high school I coach at! Batavia Bulldogs, 9-0 until we picked a bad time to play our worst game (first round of the playoffs).

Anyways, I was at the Batavia Glenbard North game, and Justin was impressive (although largely contained). I thought North's most impressive player was Murphy, the quarterback. He was small but very fast and athletic. He's a beast on the wrestling mats and the football field.
