Lions picked up Jerome Couplin III (Safety, William and Mary) as a UDFA. Great pickup for the Lions. This kid has great measurables and really lays the wood. He's 6'2" 215 with a 4.5 forty, 41" vertical, and an 81" wingspan. He could be this years Waddle for the Lions as far as UDFAs go.

MLive's Sunday edition, on Jeremy Gallon, talking about teaming up with Tom Brady:

http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2014/05/jeremy_gallon_excited…

One of the first questions Gallon was asked Saturday night by the Boston-area media was a simple one: "Have you met Tom Brady?"

"I met him one time he came to the facility and he spoke with the team," said Gallon, referring to Brady's recent visit to Ann Arbor this past August. "I haven’t gotten a chance to speak with him directly, but from the speech he gave the team, he’s a great guy. I can’t wait to be around him and to play with him.

"(He taught us) hard work and dedication. I know for him it wasn’t easy. I know he struggled a little bit and I know with the draft he was waiting too. When he got that chance and when he got his name called he made the best of it. For me, being in the same situation, I want to follow in his footsteps to be one of the greatest to play the game."

As a seventh-round choice, Gallon will obviously have to earn his way onto the Patriots roster next season, and prove he can overcome his size to be a productive pass-catcher in the NFL.

The Patriots were drawn to Michigan's 2013 most valuable player because of his work ethic, his production and his ability to make things happen -- despite being on the short side.

"He was a very productive player for Michigan, a small guy, but compact and explosive," Belichick said. "He made a lot of big plays for them. He's a (good) kid, a hard-working kid who is a very competitive player.

"He's not the type of player you have to have specialty plays for, he can go out there and play wide receiver for you."

Belichick said Gallon, as expected, will mainly line up in the slot for New England moving forward.

The Patriots presently now have 10 wide receivers on their roster, including Gallon. He'll have to work to find a niche with the team and stay on the roster for next season, but at least he has a chance.

And that's all he ever wanted.

"I’m just there to fit in and just to compete," Gallon said. "And to just go in and to be the best guy I can and to make everything happen for the team and myself."

I'm gonna love watching him playing for the Pats!

LOL...has anyone ever seen this kid block, chase down a CB after an INT, or leap up and take a ball over a guy 6" taller than him?

Compete is the LAST thing I'm worried about with Gallon. Gallon doesn't do anything BUT compete, except photobomb.

Quinton Washington to Oakland for a tryout. Good luck to him. Maybe he'll blow up and become the dominant lineman we all thought he'd become.

Cam Gordon also to the Pats. I feel like getting signed by the Pats is like getting drafted by the Thunder or Spurs in the NBA: sure it's nice to go first overall but then you're probably on a shit team with bad coaching and management. Going to the Pats seems like a good landing place if you can make the team. So godspeed, Cam.

Eastern Michigan had almost as many players taken on as undrafted free agents as we did: two to our three. Staee had eight.

Congrats also to the excellently-named Zurlon Tipton, Central Michigan's lone undrafted free agent to be picked up.
