2014 BCS National Championship Open Thread
Last one, heald in the Grand Daddy of them all!
Florida State is favored by 13 on a neutral field, by some ESPN bottom line metric. Will Jameis Winston with the Heisman and MNC and end the SEC's run of 6 straight?
Auburn is the self-proclaimed team of destiny. Will they have one more miracle tonight?
Line: FSU - 10.5
Over/Under: 67.5

SLIGHT MOD EDIT - Not really OT for our purposes. We'll make this the open thread. - LSA

And Hoke has done better? He won with Coach Rodriguez's players and has almost entirely stopped showing up to away games.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:53 PM ^
I literally just said he has done better. Look at the stats. Also Hoke's worst season matches RR's worst. I'm not arguing for which I would choose, but Hoke actually has better scoring stats. He also was able to beat MSU and OSU. My point is the best thing RR had was an offense and his offense didn't even score as much as Hoke. Even with how bad the offense was this year.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:45 PM ^
Granted, one was a victory.
RR's problem is that his defenses flat out sucked. No offense no matter how good can win when a defense isn't capable of stopping anyone.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:46 PM ^
RR could at least score touchdowns agaisnt Sparty. Hoke is 1-2, and if it wasn't for Wile, we'd be looking at 6 strait.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:49 PM ^
RR teams could not stop MSU at all. The closest he came was vs a 6-7 MSU team. (OT loss)
Hoke lost to two 11 win MSU teams AT MSU. RR lost three games with two home blowout losses.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:50 PM ^
Two things:
1. Winning without scoring a TD is 100,000,000,000 times better than losing while scoring one
2. This is a thread about FSU vs. Auburn. How about we not turn it into the 10 trillionth rehash of the Great Rich Rodriguez Argument, okay?
January 6th, 2014 at 9:54 PM ^
Yes because scoring is all that matters. RR still lost all of the games against them. I wasn't even arguing who scored more against MSU. I was stating facts that say Michigan is better at scoring now compared to when RR was here.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:44 PM ^
He was kicked out for not possessing a defense. I don't think any of our head coaches for at least the last 30+ years have had a Michigan degree.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:48 PM ^
Bo, Mo, and Lloyd didn't have Michigan degrees either. ''Michigan Man'' is something people used for guys that have coached here.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:39 PM ^
@FauxPelini ok enough is enough... I want my cat back. You've had her long enough!

January 6th, 2014 at 9:41 PM ^
That can't be real can it? Haha It's not on twitter anymore, but that is gold.
January 7th, 2014 at 2:52 AM ^
Working with the school, I can confirm Bo was with a couple of friends watching the NCG and thought it'd be funny to tweet at the Faux Pelini. It's only good PR for Nebraska, so I'll accept it!
January 6th, 2014 at 9:49 PM ^
I really hope that's real.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:56 PM ^
I don't think it's possible to fake a retweet like that. So I believe it is real, however that doesn't mean Bo sent it. It would be so great if he did though.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:40 PM ^
I actually feel bad for FSUs defense, those guys look tired, their offense is not helping them rest at all
January 6th, 2014 at 9:41 PM ^
Auburn gets every single spot. FSU is playing terrible, but the refs are giving Auburn every possible call.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:41 PM ^
Well Auburns offense definitely looks a lot better in this quarter.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:43 PM ^
Big stop from FSU. One TD and they get the ball first in the second half.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:44 PM ^
well theyve gained most of their first downs on penalties and chris davis slips. they need some real offense.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:43 PM ^
I feel like this is on the verge of a blowout for Auburn....fuck.
EDIT: Maybe not, there's still hope.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:43 PM ^
Auburn's had one drive of substance. The FSU offense just needs to wake up a bit. Keep it around 7-10 at half and it's no problem.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:44 PM ^
Wow, I can't believe he missed that field goal. That's a huge break for FSU.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:44 PM ^
Auburn's offense and D have been almost perfect. Their special teams has been a train wreck.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:44 PM ^
Did you not watch that punt? I'd say they're still getting the better end of the deal so far.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:49 PM ^
They have one of the best punters in the NCAA.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:44 PM ^
For once I want Michigan to get a junior college QB or a transfer and see how that pans out..Auburn did it with Cam and won NC, they did it again with the current QB and he took them to NC..Wisconsin did it with Wilson as a transfer and he turned out to be good for them..
Can we try somebody like that for a change?
January 6th, 2014 at 9:46 PM ^
QB is very low on the list of problems this team has. Wisconsin's transfer QB right after Wilson didn't work out so well either. I'd say that's a desperation move that rarely works out.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
No. QB is the least of our problems.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
That's an admissions issue.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
From nc state, and Newton got kicked out of Flordia neither where really junior transfers.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:51 PM ^
I know wilson transfered to wisconsin for his masters from NC, but pretty sure Newton was a junior college transfer..either way it has worked so just wondering why can we try it
January 6th, 2014 at 9:58 PM ^
You were right Newton was a Junior College transfer as well as Auburn's starting QB now.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:49 PM ^
Getting Malzan has been and is the key to their success. If we thought out of the box in getting an OC we could be exciting as well.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:46 PM ^
Hoke, Borges, or mattison on that espn news channel?
January 6th, 2014 at 9:48 PM ^
Only real college football coaches allowed. Though I'd love to see Borges comment on Auburn's real offense.
January 7th, 2014 at 4:37 AM ^
Are you always a douche?
January 6th, 2014 at 9:46 PM ^
Winston is not quite playing well.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:46 PM ^
Winston is just falling apart.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
Wow, Jameis Winston is just pissing down his own leg right now
January 6th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
Winston is truly lost out there
January 6th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
I guess Winston won't be "Crip" walking into the game anymore. Looked cocky as hell entering the game and now looks like a recently neutered puppy.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:54 PM ^
Such a stand up guy :(
January 6th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
Welp the SEC is at it again. Cripes.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:47 PM ^
Auburn is getting every bounce and every call. Both fumbles have went their way.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:48 PM ^
Hopefully FSU has a psycholgist on staff, Winston is ripping apart at the seams, can't even imagine what's going on in his head
January 6th, 2014 at 9:49 PM ^
This 3rd down could be the game.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:50 PM ^
So does this mean MSU will get voted #1?
January 6th, 2014 at 9:50 PM ^
There have been some bad Heisman bowl game performances before, but this is shaping up to be the worst.
January 6th, 2014 at 9:50 PM ^
has been looking very Freshman like. Who would have thunk it?
