2013 WR LaRue with renewed interest
Details are paywalled...but we sure could use talented wide receivers. We courted him early but he chose USC last fall. He decomitted yesterday and has expressed interest in us again. He is at the Under Armour Game this week.

I posted this in the Soup Campbell thread but supposedly Reuben Foster has some interest as well.
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:40 PM ^
That appears to be false.
January 3rd, 2013 at 10:05 PM ^
There is a video interview of Poggi and Foster on Scout, and Foster said he would give the coaches a call. I don't see much coming of it, but can never hurt.
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:44 PM ^
It looks like an attempt to generate clicks.

LB Reuben Foster. Hearing we are pursuing him as well?

Sorry if I've missed something, but who is this Elite LB prospect that is mentioned in the header of the Scout article?
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:39 PM ^
The guy that the two posters above you mentioned.
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:41 PM ^
Kris Frost.

We had a very successful receiver named Streets before. Now LaRue ("the Street") could follow his footsteps? Excellent.
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:40 PM ^
Supposedly there is some interest from both. I would be shocked at Foster...lot of bad rumors around him, wonder if the coaches want that problem. As for Larue, he has a little interest, also in ND, but I will believe it when he actually visits campus.

ND has no room for him at this point. Lots of room for other USC decommits though. Thanks Lane!

From Ace's Rceruiting Post earlier today:
"Any rumors about Sebastian LaRue and #Michigan seem to be untrue at this point.
— Adam Gorney (@adamgorney) January 2, 2013"
So maybe this is premature
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:46 PM ^
What struck me about that quote when I first read it (before I heard anything about possible rumors) was the use of the words "at this point." Now it could have been just quick tweet so the wording not really thought out, but the use of "at this point is interesting." Even more so now that the rumors are starting to fly- meaning something could have changed [no longer "at that point"]
Or I could just be starved for WR recruiting so I reading into every little word looking for a hidden meaning.
January 3rd, 2013 at 7:14 PM ^
It is "at this point" because Shane Morris told him that the coaches are still interested. Nobody knows if the coaches really are interested in getting back in his recruitment.

WR is the only position where we have yet to get a consensus 4 star recruit under Hoke. Please make this happen.
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:53 PM ^
Amara Darboh?
January 3rd, 2013 at 9:58 PM ^
I think he was a 3 star to ESPN
January 3rd, 2013 at 11:18 PM ^
He said "consensus" not "unanimous." Lots of good players get 3 stars to one of the services.
January 4th, 2013 at 4:25 AM ^
According to Merriam-Webster, "consensus" is a synonym for "unanimous."
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:44 PM ^
I just feel happy inside every time USC gets another decommit.
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:47 PM ^
I would agree, but if we're dropping off ND's schedule, we kind of need SC to be good to stop the ND train.

... do not get at all excited about recruiting rumors that happen at these camps/games. It's all gossip mongering. I do take stock in the player evaluations, but other than that, I just don't waste the energy.
January 3rd, 2013 at 10:21 PM ^
Yep, I remember last year at one of these all-star games there were rumors about that DT Shittu (I think that's the name). There was never any real interest on either side.
January 4th, 2013 at 2:41 AM ^
My instincts tell me it should be 'gossip-mongering,' but I don't know why. Is there an easy rule to figure out which words are hypenated?
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:53 PM ^
ND is a one year wonder. Just look at what they needed to be 12-0 this year. A terrible controversial call against Stanford, Pitt missing a chip shot field goal, and Matt Barkley getting hurt right before playing ND.

If you cant trust a senior RB to not make that terrible jump throw...... lol I dont blame Borges
January 3rd, 2013 at 11:24 PM ^
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:59 PM ^
Don't forget the missed call on the missed Pitt FG (ND had two players on the field with the same number).
Also the fact that Barkley got hurt at the VERY end of the USC/UCLA game in garbage time.
The stars aligned perfectly for ND to get to #1 ... Hopefully Bama embarasses them and restores order to college football.
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:59 PM ^
You seem to be forgetting Denard throwing what seemed like 50 interceptions that helped ND eek out a 7-point win.
January 3rd, 2013 at 7:03 PM ^
That may be, but they're dropping Michigan (while keeping MSU and Purdue) and playing a bunch of crappy ACC teams in the future. Their future schedules are going to make it tough for them not to do pretty well.
January 3rd, 2013 at 6:59 PM ^
He's 5' 11" on Scout and 5' 10" Rivals. I'm not sure if we need another guy this size right now.
January 3rd, 2013 at 7:09 PM ^
Another guy? In addition to whom, seniors Drew Dileo and Jeremy Gallon? I guess we could recruit some more 6'3" or 6'4" guys who can't run very fast, like Jeremy Jackson or Jaron Dukes...

January 3rd, 2013 at 7:10 PM ^
LaRue is a burner with serious moves. We don't have a deep threat.
January 3rd, 2013 at 7:30 PM ^
Might not need him for 2013, but he could certainly fill a role after Gallon and Dileo leave. WRs are not usually major contributors as true frosh anyway.
January 3rd, 2013 at 7:34 PM ^
January 3rd, 2013 at 7:45 PM ^
Well, Scout has him as 5'11.5", but either way - dude's good. Yes, we want him.
January 3rd, 2013 at 7:58 PM ^
LaRue would be my next choice of WR commit I'd want. Watch this kids highlights or check out Tremendous' recruiting files on him. He is a game breaker that we could really use. Magnus what are your thoughts?

Because Isaac has said numerous times he isn't leaving USC.
January 3rd, 2013 at 7:43 PM ^
But things change. After lunch today, I said I wasn't hungry. However, if you asked me now, I'd tell you the opposite (which is why I have a Kirkland frozen pizza in the oven right now).
My point is two-fold, both that when circumstances changes, people's stances/opinions/feelings do as well, and that Kirkland frozen pizza is the best kind of frozen pizza and this is not up for debate.

I went to Costco for lunch with a coworker today. Spending only 1.64 on lunch is great.
