I was thinking the same thing. Florida couldn't beat a one man team in Ole Miss in their conference tourney. Honestly I don't know that much about Marquette but they too didn't win their conference tourney and Michigan was ahead of them the whole year.

Marquette is a good team with a good resume.  They are going to be very dangerous in the tourney.  Not quite sure if they are more deserving than Michigan, but the thing about seeding is that they overvalue everything at the end of the season.  A loss at the beginning would slightly shift things, but with a week left it will somehow drop you 2-3 spots.  It's probably not the best system, but it is what it is I guess.  Michigan went 6-6 over its last 12 games and had some crushing losses.  Still a good team, but from the national perspective, the team is on the decline.

Michigan couldn't beat a winless-in-the-conference Penn State team with a potential Big Ten championship on the line.

Michigan fans need to look in the mirror and find Michigan's faults rather than simply pointing out everyone else's.

They take your recent games (I believe last 10) into account.

Just like how UK tanked at the end of the season, we finished the year somewhere around .500, that's not good.

We got what we deserved.

Be mad at MICHIGAN for not beating Wisconsin (twice), PSU on the road and IU at home. Win those 4 and we're damn near a 1-seed.

to Arkansas and K State two teams we beat.  Throw in the fact they didn't win their conference tournament either, only two other teams from their conference made the dance, they had more loses, and we were a 6 and they were a thirteen going into conference tourney play and I fail to see how they moved up and we dropped that much. No sense in complaining about it because it is what it is. I hope the team gets it mojo back and goes out and tells the selection committee to suck it.

Florida I understand, Marquette is a bit more questionable. Honestly, I think the commitee's desire to keep us in Auburn Hills is the reason we ended up the "top" 4 seed. Personally, I would rather be a 4 seed playing close to home. than a 3 seed playing in Lexington, KY.

EDIT: I am definitely happier being a four seed in the South than a three seed in that rediculous Midwest region... Good Luck Staee....You're gonna need it.

I haven't liked the first four games since they added them 2 years ago.  Just looking at this makes you realize how messy it makes things.  Boise, Lasalle, Mid Tenn, and Saint Mary's are technically 12 seeds but are playing as 11 and 13 seeds? Cal and Oregon are technically 11 seeds playing as 12 seeds?  I wish they would go back to the old 65 team format where things are much more simple and more fair.

We can argue that UM is better than all the 3 seeds:

NM - haven't seen them play all year, no basis

MSU - how is their resume different than ours?

Marquette - really confused on that - they lose in the Big East tourney early just like us

Florida - couldn't even win the SEC, which is horrid

But - can't complain now - we are 'home' for the first two rounds - that is the most important thing. We put one foot in the grave with our play late in the year - time to start digging out.

I'm glad we get what I presume to be an easy five seed, but how did we get put in the south if we are the top four seed?

to spread out the Big Ten, since the top four seeded Big Ten teams are in the four different regions, and to do us a favor by putting us in Auburn Hills.

People take a snapshot judgment at the end of the season and since we've played medicore, you get a 4 seed. In all honesty, it shouldn't matter what seed we're in since our bracket looks pretty good for us, IMO. I guess it just depends on which team shows up this year. I'm hoping they show some fire for once.

I didn't want a 4-seed, but after the draw, I'm pleased.  One-game-at-a-time and all, but we're in a VERY winnable bracket.  There are no hard core bangers in the region (G'town barely qualifies) and that is our challenge.  Most teams will have to look at how Penn St. and Indiana beat us (not the other 3) and the 1) don't get as many looks at us per year as the conference and 2) aren't Indiana.

Sparty has the toughest task, but an all B1G FF would be pretty cool.

Now let's go beat SDSt.

i agree, i think this bracket is really not that bad.

KU is beatable.

and we all know florida is beatable.

i like our chances--the team just needs to show up and play!

but not the worst.

This is a winnable bracket for Michigan.  The only thing better would have been OSU's bracket, but that would have been on the road.

I still think UM is 'high risk, high reward'.  They could lose the first game, if not careful, but if they get on a run, they can beat anyone.  There is nobody in the country that we can't beat on a good day.

Here is what I don't understand: Michigan is ranked 6th in the latest AP top 25 poll. That is a solid #2 seed, the second best #2. Granted, Michigan lost to Wisconsin, but Michigan should not have slipped all the way down to 13th, especially given the fact Indiana also lost to Wisconsin (more badly, in fact), and it did not seem to affect their seeding.

At worst, Michigan should have been a #3 seed.

i don't disagree with this logic, but i'd rather have ku as a sweet sixteen matchup than duke

though i would rather have memphis as a round of 32 matchup than memphis

in the end, it is a wash. while it sounds better to have a "3" next to the team's name, the difference is really minimal.

Marquette lost 82 to 49 to Florida during the regular season. And they're the same seed as Florida? What a joke.

They also lost to Green Bay. Yeah....you read that correctly. Green Bay
