2013 Recruiting Map 1.0
Here is a map I put together with the recruiting data found in the "useful stuff" tab. I made a few of these last year, but this is the first one I have done for 2013. Mainly because I was using a educational copy with a one year license that expired, but I was able to obtain this one through my works "Home Use Program".
I included the School where the player commited in the labels.....so if you dont see a school name then the player is uncommited. Here is a direct link if you want to zoom in for a little more details. Let me know if I happened to mis anything. I'll try and put out a few more of these in the upcoing weeks.

Is that Tableau?

Actually its ESRI ArcGIS.....I'll have to check out Tableau to be honest I never even heard of it until I saw it in your post. Did a quick check on the website, and it looks interesting.

It looks like some Tableau views I've created. The program is a great way to visualize large data sets. You can make really big Access databases somewhat understandable in a way that simple statistics just can't.

Basically you can do the same on this Arc, obviously from the maps above. Its a super powerful tool if you can learn how to use it and you can get ahold of it.

Looks great, but I believe you missed our man from Massachusetts, Mr. Hurst.

I thought I had that fixed.......I geocoded each location based on City/State each recruit is from,. This worked great, but for some reason the software did not like Westwood, MA.....I am going to wait a day or 2 to see if there is anything else thats needs fixed then I'll incorporate all corrections in the next map. Thanks for spotting that.
I'll do some more analysis in the next maps incorprating Hokes past classes.

Sometimes, it is easy to forget just how far and wide the staff goes to find the talent that we get. This is a great representation of that very thing and thanks for sharing.
If I counted right, we offered players in 25 states and DC, with some of the biggest contributors being rather unsurprising - Ohio, California, Texas, Illinois and New Jersey, among others. Now, is it just me or did we grab about half of the recruits in Ohio? It looks like we were similarly successful in Illinois. Very informative.

We offered 16 kids in Ohio and 9 committed......thats a 56% success rate. Also, out of those 16 only 3 of them went to Ohio State.

Must. Lock. Down. Cass Tech.
That school is bursting with D1 players. Can NOT let any of them get to a rival school. Iowa has already managed to put a dent in the armour with two straight years of players.

Not one recruit from Florida, Texas, or California. Wonder if this is a trend or an anomaly?

LLoyd was better in those states than he gets credit for. Looks more like an early Bo class.
But too early yet to infer a trend.

Ever since Hoke's freak grizzly bear wrestling accident in 1984 he vowed never to return to that region.
