Not surprising. It would have been real tough to pull him away from Texas, since he is one of the more highly rated OL in the country. That's ok because once we get Pocic and LTT we will be in good position.

I could be wrong, but I always feel like a lot of Texas recruits are overvalued.  Yes, there's a lot of great football being played in the state of Texas, but the I feel like the kids in Florida and California are often more talented.  I think the reputation for football in the state outstrips the talent there.

I just looked up this info:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Friday-night-star…

Those statistics suggest that Florida, Mississippi, Hawaii, and Louisiana produce a higher percentage of NFL players than Texas when you take population size into account.  But I don't think MS and LA have the same reputation for football, and Hawaii certainly doesn't.

I think the better measure of whether Texas talent is relatively overrated in recruiting rankings (or I guess undercoached by the schools that they end up attend predominantly), is to look at the following ratio for Texas.

(# of Texas players to be drafted over x years) divided by

(#5*s in Texas over x years * probability of a generic 5* nationwide being drafted over the same time + #4*s in Texas over x years * probability of a generic 4* nationwide being drafted + etc.)

This ratio would probably need to be computed for all states to ensure there isn't a consistent bias against or for major football states vs. smaller producing states.

I remember around the time that yahoo article came out someone posted a diary that had probabilties for a generic 5*,4*, or 3* to go pro so it might not be that hard for them to do.

Texas has really underachieved. They won a National Title in the 2005-06 season, and played for another one in 2009-10. I'm not sure how that can be considered underachieving, but ok. They've had a rough last two years, but they have played several young guys. Regardless of how good you are coming out of high school, most of those guys weren't ready to play. I look for Texas to rebound in a big way next year.

Mack won 9 games in each of his first 3 years at UT.  Then he won at least 10 games for nine straight seasons (including a Rose Bowl win, a Fiesta Bowl win, a national title, and another title game appearance).  For 10 seasons they never finished lower than 13th in the final rankings.

They've had a couple of down years recently, but if that is your definition of underachieving then you are basically holding them to an impossible standard.

Since when do we lose Texas recruits to UT?  I AM ANGAR.

We need to turn the tide in Texas. Hopefully we can sell some jerseys down there when we play Bama in Dallas. That would be a good start.

I'm hearing that Raulerson may not play OL anyway. Sounds like Texas was recruiting him to play DL and may reevaluate if he bulks up enough to play OL in the future.

While he has the hight (6'5"), the kid is only 250, at least according to ESPN. It seems that he will have to add a lot of weight to play an OL in college. 6'5" 250 sounds more like a DE.

Too bad, although not unexpected.

He looks like a big, bad, mean dude. Texas got a good one.

EDIT: If you feel like watching a guy commit (to another school...), there's video:
