2013 OL Colin McGovern, IL reports Michigan Offer

Colin McGovern, 2013 OT/ OG prospect from New Lenox, IL is reporting a Michigan offer from multiple sites.

His Scout  profile is available here : http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=8&c=1&nid=5910485

Also found a quick video of him on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8lse6GZe30

Seems solid in the highlights.

He needs and deserves a vacation.

Do you think he gets away before or after the Spring game?

How many more OL are we going to offer for 2013?

We just wrapped up a pretty nice haul in 2012 and already it seems like half our offers are OL. I realize you need depth there, but I didn't expect this much focus two years in a row.

Ok thanks.  I don't remember

Ok thanks.  I don't remember hearing that from Hoke.  I was thinking maybe like 5 one year, 3 the next (assuming some attrition and redshirting here and there).  5 per year just seems like a lot.

Yeah I guess it depends on

Yeah I guess it depends on who is left after graduation, attrition, etc. I would say 3 or 4 per year would be more like it.

If you look at the typical roster numbers for OL

and factor in needing at least a quality 2 deep all the time, guys redshirting, attrition, and injury losses, we should really be signing 4 to 5 guys every year.  Because of our shortage of linemen currently, the 2012 and 2013 classes need to be even a little larger.  That's why getting either Diamond or Kozan is so important.

It'll depend on Diamond and

It'll depend on Diamond and Kozan, but if we get neither, it means we wanted 5-6 OL and got 4.  That's not enough.  I think we'll take at least 4 in 2013, and if we whiff on the two guys we have left, I bet we'll take 5.

The number will probably be

The number will probably be closer to 5 this year, unless we pull ofr Kozan and/or Diamond.

4 seniors graduate next year leaving us incredibly thin in the lines yet again.

Voted McGovern in '72

and proud of it. Woody Hayes, on the other hand, was a big Nixon fan and vice versa.

Why is the reply rated OT?

It's just an attempt at humor relating a potential recruit's name and our Ohio rivalry. I guess it's more relevant to make an entire topic out of a sweatshirt typo!

Big Rule on the board:

No politics.  Period.  Only very VERY rare exceptions (SOPA is the only one that comes to mind) is it allowed.

Lots of Chicago Kids!

Wow, lots of offerees in Chicago-land for 2013. I may have to go watch a few HS football games this Fall (and report back).

There are a bunch of good offensive linemen in Illinois this year.  Bosch, Tuley-Tillman, Pocic, McGovern, etc.
