247 released its 2013 watchlist alphabetically by state name  and 8 five-star recruits. In the first article, they mention Steve Elmer just missed the cut for five-stars.

transfers and underperforming highly touted recruits, I have just about given up on caring about star ratings.  Give me the 3-4 star guy who'll work his ass off.

in response to a question from a reader.

Shane was talked about as well. I think it's close, but I wouldn't be surprised if Elmer got the nod down the road. Both are great prospects and will likely be highly ranked in the Top247 next fall.

Elmer would be one of the nation's top offensive tackles in the class of 2012.

Morris has all the physical tools to be great, but sometimes this summer he was careless with the football. We're real excited to see him play his junior season and see how he progresses with reading defenses and making plays on a consistent basis. I'd be surprised if anyone had a stronger arm, and he has the moxie you want from someone playing in that position. I've seen him absolutely on fire, where he was dominant the second day at the IMG Madden 7on7 in Tampa. He's also made some mistakes which is expected in a young quarterback. We'll see how he grows, but he definitely has a chance to make a push for the nation's top QB.

Billy "Bam Bam" Carter (DT)

Grand Blanc, MI

Strengths:  1.) Tirelessness; 2.) Quickness ; 3.) Feet

Areas for Improvement:  1.) Frame ; 2.) Pad Level; 3.) Short Arms; 4.) Puberty

Notes from the Editor:  "Bam Bam," as he's fearfully referred to in local Pop Warner circles, is a rapidly-ascending pre-teen from the mean streets of Grand Blanc.  He's already garnered offers from as far as Oklahoma and Florida St., but his dream is to one day play for the Maize-N-Blue.  Tons of upside, especially if he puts on the requisite 180-200 lbs. and grows another 2-3 feet over the next six years.  Reports a 6.8 shuttle time and laser-timed 5.8 40 yard dash.  Also a standout in the classroom, Bam Bam reports he received nothing but "P"s and "S+"s this semester.  Keep an eye out for this one.

Also,  the state of Texas has huge some receivers:

Marcell Ateman 6-5 190

Derrick Griffin 6-7 220

Quan Jones 6-4 196

Gary Moore 6-6 221

Jake Oliver 6-3 190

I hope we can get at least one of them.
