If Kovacs had a little brother
December 14th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
Sorry guys, JK has played lights out over the last two seasons. Somehow I I don't think of him as a former walk-on - but he surely is. Me culpa.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:24 PM ^
is lucky to have him. that is all.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
Not even a Preferred walk-on at that. He made the team via student body tryouts.
December 14th, 2011 at 6:33 PM ^
And they made him do that twice, too. The first time he made the team but failed the physical.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
Little McGritty Kovacs.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:20 PM ^
lloyd brady doesnt need to attend walk-ons
December 14th, 2011 at 3:21 PM ^
I know for certain there is a kicker walking on and WR Bo Dever. Other than that I am not sure.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:24 PM ^
I believe the kicker's name is Kenny Allen. They're hoping that he can take over punting duties after Hagerup leaves.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:35 PM ^
I do love Kate Beckinsale.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
Wile was a pretty good punter this year. Wouldn't he be next in line after Hagerup? I would think by the time Hagerup is done, Wile could handle all the PK, kickoff, and punting duties.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:27 PM ^
Could the staff apply for an exemption for Will Heininger since he only played 1 game last year?
December 14th, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
so no
December 14th, 2011 at 3:29 PM ^
Nathan Brink's name keeps getting brought up. The coaches seemed to be talking him up a lot in fall practice, but he didn't do too much in games. Still, they seem to like him a lot and he could end up being a Heininger-type contributor down the road. That conjecture is based solely on the fact that the coaches have been giving him a lot of praise.

I can't decide who is more likely to Walk-On water; Denrard Robinson or Brady Hoke
December 14th, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
Denard, he's so fast he just doesn't break the surface tension.
December 14th, 2011 at 10:42 PM ^
Hoke is much more buoyant. Dilithium sinks like a rock.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:45 PM ^
I have a feeling Bo Dever will make his mark one way or another at Michigan. Not saying he will play a huge role, but I can certainly envision situations where it will be beneficial to have an extra 6'-2" receiver on the field.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
Fred Jackson says Bo Dever will be Drew Dileo except faster and whiter.
December 14th, 2011 at 4:16 PM ^
and more ginger-y
December 14th, 2011 at 4:30 PM ^
Except with more of a soul.
December 14th, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
Wasn't their some kid we talked about on here who was getting Prefered Walk-On status at OL who was ridiculously big and was a wrestler in high school and a Jehovah's Witness? I don't remember anything else about him but that.
December 14th, 2011 at 4:02 PM ^
You are probably thinking of the weight lifter phenom who was on the roster this summer, but didn't seem to make it through fall camp. Gary Yerden, I think was his name. I was pulling for the kid, but he had played very little football and unfortunately didn't last very long
December 14th, 2011 at 4:07 PM ^
I heard that he quit school and was competing in body building.
December 14th, 2011 at 4:12 PM ^
He moved to North Carolina to be around more family members. He's a power lifter, not body builder. His Michigan experience only lasted a couple weeks. He really didn't belong there talent-wise.
December 14th, 2011 at 4:28 PM ^
Isn't Graham Glasgow from IL also a preferred walk-on OL who at one time was going to OSU?
December 14th, 2011 at 4:15 PM ^
The coaches have said nothing but positive things about Nathan Brink and he got some PT this year as just a sophomore. Guessing he will at least be in the mix again next year.
Burzynski, Glasgow, Gunderson, and Mateus (two of whom saw garbage time minutes this year) are going to get a lot of reps in spring ball before the big freshman class comes in on the o-line. Doubt any of them come too close to cracking the starting lineup with 4 starters back plus Mealer and Khoury as seniors, but if any of them have a shot at playing down the road now would be their chance to prove it.

You're thinking of Baquer Sayed. I dont know what happened to him though.
December 14th, 2011 at 4:43 PM ^
Yeah, there isn't much information on him. His MGoBlue Profile just says "redshirted."
http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/sayed_baquer00.html
He turned down offers from Ball St. and the Bobcats.
December 14th, 2011 at 4:54 PM ^
Bag it.
December 14th, 2011 at 5:11 PM ^
This might not deserve it's own post, since the guy is about 6th or 7th string, but it's a cool piece nonetheless on a 2011 QB, Alex Swieca.
December 14th, 2011 at 5:22 PM ^
Thanks, nice story. No wonder they aren't worried about bringing in a QB in this class.
December 15th, 2011 at 8:05 AM ^
very cool story!
kid played football in the Israel Football League before coming to join UM.
December 14th, 2011 at 6:28 PM ^
Kicker from Fenton. Don't know his name off the top of my head. I've read he's a scholarship level talent and is quite a get as a walk-on.
December 14th, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
2013 walk-on:
#BELIEVE #OLETDOIT
December 15th, 2011 at 7:54 AM ^
You have to be admitted to the school to walk on, so I'm thinking no.
