it's douchebags like you who ruin mgoblog^^ !!!
Relax. The negging gets the point across.
Seriously dude, great job. This is extremely helpful.
I agree.. That took some time to gather this is a HELLUVA lot better than manually looking through rivals for Michigan-interested-top-250 targets. Thanks.
Please consider posting whenever TVH does us updates.
I'm curious to know if the number of our offers follows past years (more than most of B10 teams) or tracks more closely with that Ohio school.
I can't find any posts that say he was offered yet and neither Rivals nor Scout lists him as offered.
That kid needs to get offered like yesterday.
Great Job, its interesting that a majority of Michigans offers are to the players on the top 250 watch list.
Yeah, that was my initial reaction, too. I'd be curious to see how that compares to the offer lists over the past several years.
is that there are only 8 in state offers so far and 5 of those come from FHH and Cass Tech.
Not a concern, just a little surprising.
Also, this should be bumped to a diary.
with regular updates
know how this compares to RR? toward the end i assume he was aiming lower, with a greater percentage of presumptive 3 star sorts getting offers. does that sound right?
He liked small shifty guys with extreme speed.
A lot of these guys didn't score high marks on physicals in camps explaining the lack of high star ratings.
Don't really think you can compare the two really.
That is correct. Part of rivals rankings are based on how pro ready the recruit is. This means that in most (not all) cases recruits who are taller, bigger, stronger get rated higher.
I don't understand the constant need to compare everything the new regime does to the way the old regime did it. My ex-girlfriend made a mean quesadilla, but I don't constantly compare it to the quesadillas I'm currently eating. I've moved on and I'm better for it...
it's not a need for "constant" comparison. i'd be just as interested in various other top schools' approaches. the answer to the question i asked here could probably have been answered.
RR did not recruit small shifty types. He recruited the best players he could. The reason there were a lot of 3 stars were because the guy was under a constant shitstorm and his job was constantly in flux. Tought to recruit to those conditions and he still did ok.
R. Miller and J. Williamson and J. Jackson are all big WR's in any system.
C. Bryant and Tony Posada are huge OL
The only small shifty types are the 4 or 5 slot WR.
You compare your new girlfriends' quesadillas to the ones your ex made and you might lose out on the quesadillas and the taco! Heyyyoooooo!
I was going to ask him if he has a highlight reel of quesadillas that he fondly recalls in an hour of darkness.
I love quesadillas.
You want a quesadilla? Well, I want a case of beer.
Any school can offer any Top 250 recruit they want. The bigger question IMO is if we have a realistic chance to get them. If 0 of those 40 offers commit and we're stuck with 3 star sorts the question then becomes moot. Bottom line, it's very early. I believe RR had a top 25 class evyertime?
Good stuff thanks alot, we are after some elite players based on that chart. Does anyone know how many players are on the 250 watch list?
They start with their top 250 based on last season and camps, and then throughout the year some players fall off and other players are added based on new data.
Ahh thanks, I assumed they started with a larger number and then trimmed it over time. That makes this offer list even better, Hoke is aiming high.
I have a really good feeling about this class.
Jeez, you'd have thought Magnus would have done something like this on his blog.
Magnus (or Thundercat or whatever you call yourself over there) - put up an page of offers that UM has sent out. You can title it "2012 Offer Board" or something catchy like that. Sorting it by position and listed the players hometown would help too. If you have video of them, maybe you could link to it.
While I'm at it, this it what I would make it look like -
Just a thought.
you are honestly going to be offended because this was done on another site. I could understand if Brain had already done this, but cmon we're talking about content on a different site. Do you really feel posters should check every michigan fansite before posting things? I appreicate the work, Thank you OP.
Yes, I was trying to be snarky, but it was more to save the other posters time when there is already a poster on this site that does a very good job compiling this exact list, and has for several years.
There no sense is spending time keeping track of all of this if someone is already doing it, in an easy to read and organized fashion.
Since I'm assuming this OP isn't going to repost this every time we send out a new offer, it might be easier for everyone to just go to Magnus' blog and check it out. I'm not trying to knock the OP, if anything I'm trying to save him some time and work.
I love Magnus' blog and I'm certainly not trying to replicate it. I started keeping track of all of the offers because they were happening so fast and at the time neither Rivals nor Scout nor Magus seemed to list them all (although Magnus now has them all).
I also added Ht., Wt., 40 time, and Rivals Top 250 because I was interested in those things and that information isn't available consistently on any of the other sites. Many posters on this site have asked about the Rivals 250 so this list answers that question. I assume most of this information will be included in the MGo Recruiting Board that Tim is working on and then my spreadsheet will be retired.
You're acting like a psycho.
People probably shouldn't get hopes up on Theus. Some regard him as top prospect in the state of Florida. No harm in offering though.
Yea I mean offering Taylor from Cali, even though he's committed to USC, seems to offer some hope that he's interested in Mich since he is visiting. Anyone we get on campus can't hurt our chances.
To put an "Offer" column in the table when the title is 2012 Recruiting Offer List? Maybe make that into an Interest Level column. Don't want to see too many Sad Josh's on that list....
I have this in Excel and I also include prospects who haven't been offered yet. I only posted the players with offers since that was the question that I was answering and the list was already pretty long without including every player we might offer.
I don't mind sending out offers to prospects that are likely out of reach. Gotta be in it to win it baby. It's worth it if we pull just one of them.
for creating this.......so many new names flying around, it's hard to keep track of......nice to see guys in the top 250 getting offers.
We've also offered SC RB Demetrius Williams
I only included players that Rivals, Scout, or TomVH claim have offers. I can't find him anywhere in those sources. I assume that a newspaper somewhere reported his Michigan State offer as a Michigan offer.
At this point it looks like our only RB offers are to elite prospects and he doesn't seem to fit the bill.
BTW - I'm a daily visitor to your blog. It's a great aggregator of Twittered recruiting info. For those looking for a great recruiting resource visit http://2012umrecruit.blogspot.com/ for DGDestroys frequent updates.
Thanks for the plug
However, scout was reporting an offer about a week ago, I don't know where it went. I should probably take him off my offer board.
A few interesting but meaningless notes:
5 of 6 Defensive Ends offered are from OHIO.
Only 1 of 9 Offensive Lineman offered is from OHIO or MICHIGAN.
I thought the Linebackers to be offered would be more of the Willingham 235-240 lb size....instead so far they are similar size to RR's LB recruits.
as opposed to Willingham who was a senior when offered. So most of these guys will grow into the size LB that you're talking about
thanks, i wasn't taking that into account.
now, imagine that ga dt taylor who is still 16 and 6'4 and 315lbs as a junior. his film was as impressive as keith marshalls, but on the defensive side.
Yeah, as me said, the weight of a junior in HS isn't that important really, since most linebackers put on a lot of their weight once they get here. Demens and Fitzgerald were 224 and 225 coming out of HS, and now they're both 250 or so. It's not uncommon for these guys to put on 20-25 lbs over the few years between their senior year of HS and their first couple in college.
So a LB listed at 215-220 on his Rivals profile in 2011 can certainly be 235-245 by the time he sees the field in 2013 or 2014.
I'm wondering why Noah Spence and Rushel Shell haven't been offered. They're both highly rated recruits from PA. I've read Spence was sending his tape to the Michigan coaches. Shell seems like he is the kind of back the coaches would want but I haven't read anything regarding him and Michigan.
First of all, great work. Thanks for putting this together!
And one thing I thought I saw: Avery Johnson is an LSU commit, I believe. Would love to have him, but sounds like being Patrick Peterson's younger brother has put LSU in a pretty solid position.
Besides Bam Bradley, also surprised about no offer for Kelby Latta. Hopefully that comes soon as well, seems like everyone is high on him in the interior.
Yesterday the question was posted on what are good trends on MGoblog. I would argue that people like the OP who take the time to not only research the data, but also formulate and post the results, are a BIG part of what's right here.
I wish i could give more than one upvote and wish even more that my upvote meant something. Hell of a good job!!!!!
Where is Barry Sanders Jr. ?
