2012 MBB Recruit Matt Costello Interview
Following up on my post on 2012 MBB offerees, GBW has posted a Sam Webb interview with 2012 offeree Matt Costello (6'8" C/PF, Bay City Western HS).
He talks about being a coach's son, his battles last season with Trey Zeigler, compares himself to Zack Novack and his priorities for selecting a school.
Reading between the lines of his answers, I'd say he's a Michigan lean. Of course that could change five times between now and next summer when it appears he'll be making his decision.
Costello's like a chemical don't you try to stop him he's like a narcotic
Seems like another good kid. I really like the players that Beilein recruits. He is beginning to pull top (top 100 at least) players that have a good head on their shoulders. I am also a fan of recruiting players that will more than likely play 4 years rather than the one and done players. It allows for chemistry and senior leadership ala Butler.
I would like to agree with you, but what impact player has he himself signed so far? Now don't get me wrong, I think he is a good coach and I'm glad we have him. But so far I have been disappointed with his recruiting.
I honestly though Darius Morris had a decent year last year. He was kind of thrown into the wolves at first but he started to figure things out after a while. I think we will see him really develop this year.
However, I think the best recruits are coming soon with Evan Smotrycz coming this year and Brundidge coming the following year (hopefully along with someone like Amir Williams).
One Top 100 guy I am not sold on yet is Vogrich. I am not saying he won't eventually be a good player, I just wish he would have red-shirted. He can definitely shoot but is he strong enough and athletic enough to play at this level. He is a guy that really needs to eat some doughnuts and hit the weight room.
