I'd like it even more if you stick Trey DePriest or Lawrence Thomas in there.
DL: Roh, Campbell, Martin, Lolata
LB: Furman, Fitzgerald, Robinson
C: Turner, Christian
S: Dorsey, Johnson
expecting martin to get a redshirt?
I think he was referring to the 2012 BCS title game
That said, Martin will be gone in 2012
Yea I misread '12 as '11.
Then my DL guess will be Roh, Campbell, Black, Lolata
well you know RVB will be there in '11 right?
Van Bergen sorry, took me a while. This is 2012, not 11
Ryan Van Bergen
edit: lol i know i was responding to the person who thought this was about '11 but didnt include RVB
Ryan Van Bergen. The only one man wrecking crew left on the defense with the departure of Graham.
F Corner- Turner
B Corner- Christian
Box S- Robinson
Deep S- Doresey
All this talk of 2 years from now is hurting my brain ;/
That's a 4-3. I thought we we're running the 3-4. (Not sarcasm) Do you think Greg will change to the 4-3?
Roh - Campbell - Lalota
Bell - Furman - Fitzgerald - Robinson
Turner - Dorsey - Emillien - Christian
Roh plays a olb technically, but he does at lot of the same things as a lineman. He's just saying Roh will start at the same position he did this year.
Why did this kid get negged for this? While only a technicality, and as an aside I don't think we technically run a 3-4 or a 4-3, Brian has definitely agreed with me on this point, this kid is more right than the OP calling it 4 down lineman. It was certainly not worthy of him getting negged 4 times.
while i didnt neg him i definitely can see why...he said we run a 3-4 and then put roh as one of the 3...roh is more of a DE than an OLB, but if you view this defense as a 3-4 then roh would be an OLB
While I take your point, I don't think it is unreasonable to project that by 2012 you think Roh will have possibly filled out, put on weight, and been made more of a true DE. More than one person on this board, including Brian and other Mod's, have suggested that that may be his future.
Roh will be the hybrid DE/LB.
I'm stocking up on canned goods, you know, plenty of non-perishables, maybe some ramen, and a portable generator. I'm also going to take some seed-bearing plants into my bunker so I can do my part to repopulate the Earth's forests. I can't forget paper, either, of both the toilet and writing varieties, so I can document the apocalypse from the subterranean porthole I've dug out.
Bring a chicken and some feed. Bird feed will stay good almost indefinitely, and eggs can provide some critical protein.
But what do you do with all the poo?
So you're expecting us to play with three defensive ends (Roh, Black, Wilkins), one linebacker (Furman), and three free safeties (Johnson, Robinson, Gordon)? That is truly a unique defense.
The good ol' 4-1-6.
Our pass defense will be great! We might see the rush suffer just a tad, though.
that is very promising.
Fitzgerald won't be here in 2012, unless he redshirts.
Not to be a jerk, but do u really not see the post right ahead of you.
haha no but what's worse is I was thinking 2 years from now as if it was already 2011. take out fitz...put in demens. take out demens, put in hawthorne
21 posts in about 9 minutes on a supremely hypothetical topic = snow day in michigan
Too much time on my hands.
well there is one thing it appears we all can agree on...Christian, Dorsey, and Turner ill all probably be starting in 2012 and that looks very very promising!
Roh - Cambell/Ash - Black/Talbott - Wilkins
Furman - Ryan/MRob - Bell
Turner - MRob/Emilien - Christian
Unsure whether MRob will stay at S or move to LB. I heard Jake Ryan was recruited for DE spot but something tells me he may stay at that MLB spot.
my format was messed up and i forgot about hawthorne..
DT - Black
NT - Campbell
DE - Wilkins
Quick - Roh
Spinner - Furman
LB - Bell
LB - Hawthorne
Box Safety - MRob
CB - Turner, Christian
Deep Safety Dorsey
i think because of furmans incredible athleticism, they will move hawthorne to LB when furman is ready
though i expect players not yet on the team to compete...especially at LB and DE
This is the best one I've seen so far. Both as to format and as to personnel. I'm surprised at how many people leave out Bell in their LB projections. I am excited to see what he can bring.
Van Bergen will not be here in 2012.
This is at least the third person (Martin, Fitzgerald, now Van Bergen) who's been listed who's clearly running out of eligibility in 2011.
My picks to start on defense in 2012:
DL - David Bowens, Pat Massey, William Carr, James Hall
LB - Erick Anderson, Eric Mayes, Clint Copenhaver
DB - James Whitley, Marcus Ray, Brandent Englemon, Todd Howard
Are you seriously taking Crable out is it because of our system of a 4-1-6?
Where is Alfie Burch?
bastard... beat me to it.
Ninef Agakhan, once Barwisized, will easily crack the starting line-up by 2012.
Crable is only going to play special teams. I hear he's great on field goal units.
Denard Robinson is going to shock the world after this season, put on 75 lbs without losing any speed, spend an off season redshirting and learning some killer moves, and return for the '12 season as the world's most deadly cannonball ninja assassin defensive end.
Book it. No sugarcoat.
That we might be hearing from Davion Rogers. As for Kenny Demens, I think his chance has come and gone. A special teams guy.
Regarding Demens: rank speculation, or insider knowledge?
Nice to see you're dismissing players out of hand before they've entered their upperclassmen years. You fit in quite well here.
Rank speculation and malicious innuendo, that's what I'm talking about!
Seriously though, my only claim to anything inside is that I watched Demens play many times at Detroit Country Day. Fine player but I always thought his level was MAC, not Big 10. Then again, I'm not a professional talent evaluator. Hope I'm wrong about him.
Now this is only a wish list if everything turns out perfectly, you never know how things will go, but this D will lock down.
Hawthorne-Unknown true freshmen stud everyone loves to jump like 5 guys on the depth chart-Leach(please let there be eligibility)Furman if he's gone.
My backfield will be senior laden and experienced, I'd put turner in but he'll be the #1 pick in the draft and leave early after 11 so that leaves
JT Floyd-Teric Jones at the corners with Christian working his way in on the Nickle packages with Kovacks and Dorsey operating the (no fly zone) deep.
Seriously, after the class we just had, you're still going to have Floyd and Teric Jones at cornerback in 2012?
not to mention kovacs...god...but then again, who knows? maybe kovacs will crack 4.8 by then
I might catch a few flies, but Magnus come on. You just put up your Mid 90's depth chart. Totally sarcastic post. I love depth charts as much as the next guy, but a 2012 depth chart for a team that has exactly 2 guys we have seen that would warrant any excitement to be playing at that time is ridiculous. Other than Roh and a very limited sighting of W. Campbell who have we seen play a down that anybody would want to see out there in 2012?? We have 25 or so of pretty talented d players in the last 2 classes we have depth at every position let's let em battle it out.
I'm excited but filling in names on a paper of guys we have never seen is a little pointless. 2011 depth chart is more fun just because of this..... RVB, Martin, Campbell, Roh. That is going to be 4 badass mofos out there.
2011 boys....Shaq redemption tour for Michigan.....Freep tell me how my ass taste!!!!
Marquise Slocum, Sasquatch, HR Puff 'n Stuff, The Bunyip (google it)
Teddy Ruxpin, Shaky Jake, James Burrell Angel
RoJo, Taylor Mays, Antonio Bass, Harry Potter
FUCK LION! WOO
Harry Potter Flying around and shit
ON A BROOM
Demens couldn't find playing time in 2009 when Ezeh and Mouton were walking train wrecks and the combo of Fitzgerald/Leach couldn't get the job done. Despite four subpar performances ahead of time, he didn't even sniff the field. I don't think it's too soon to assume that he might be a career backup, although I don't think the door is necessarily shut.
If you were being sarcastic, I apologize. Honestly, the format for your post was so muddled that I stopped trying to comprehend the entire piece.
I threw some real names in there, but I figured Heininger, Walk On and T. Jones would flush me out.
I'm not going to try to speculate who is going to start or where simply because I don't have the insider knowledge/desire to do so. I do hope that it will be a good group because they are going to have offenses throwing the kitchen sink at them because our offense in 2012 hopefully will average 40 per game with the number of experienced pieces in place by then. I would rather have some 42-10 type games than 42-38...but I'll take either one.
Yes, now that you said it, it reminded me about that, completely forgot when his eligibility was going to run up.
Roh - Campbell - Lalota
Bell - Furman - Robinson - Hawthorne
Turner - Dorsey - Emilien - Christian
That will most likely be our lineup in 2012, barring we get no stud defensive recruits in 2011.
It's ok to consider this defense a 3-4.
HOWEVA, if you call it a 3-4, then ROH MUST BE A LINEBACKER
Whether u call it a 3-4 or a 4-3 depends on if u consider Roh to be a LB or a DE. If you think Roh is a DE, then we run a 4-3. If you think Roh is an OLB, then we run a 3-4.
A2 to GVSU is pretty much right. The reason I say this is because even if we gave you the benefit of the doubt that you think Roh will grow into a true DE, you don't have anyone in your line-up to take his DE/LB hybrid spot. You have 4 guys (maybe not Bell) who are S/LB types, and nobody for the Deathbacker spot. That line-up is like having 6 or 7 DB's on the field at once.
Box Safety- Robinson
Deep Safety- Dorsey
The defense would be definitely have a bunch of athleticism and a whole bunch of SPEED.
At linebacker...Davion Rogers. I look at him and can't get Carl Banks out of my mind. Banks was 6'4" 200# coming out of high school. A D lineman. Quick. Somewhat under the radar. Wound up the #3 pick in the NFL draft as a 6'4" 235# linebacker. I realize I am not a professional evaluator or a seer but damn, a man can hope, right?
...I used to love "Fresh Prince of Bel Air." I used to think Hillary was really hot...and then Ashley got hot, too.
