If he ends up taking an official or two, I would assume one of them would be to Oregon.  Apparently him and Dior Mathis are pretty close.  We have seen from prospects in the past that the Oregon visit changes them.  I assume he will be blue next year though.  Does anyone know what his relationship is with Hollowell.

You know what they say if a recruit is still taking visits he's never 100% committed...one of the only thing I ever agreed with RR on.

What kind of kid likes to go to college towns for free and be treated like royalty? You're just being wacky . . . .

Just out of curiosity, what bar are you taking, Blue in SB ?

You'll be just fine. NY and Cali are known to be a bit of a nuisance, but I'm sure you'll nail MI on the first go. Just keep doing what you are doing and soon enough, you'll be back to killing brain cells and forgetting civil procedure, if you're like everyone else . . .

And good luck with the case, just remember that generally speaking, the guy on the other side is just as confused as you are. If you don't act intimidated, nobody knows whats going on in your head . . .

Some schools(Oregon is a good example) won't consider a guy committed if they take other visits. Personally, I'm in the let the guys take visits camp(If nothing else Michigan's nit in position to play hardball), but there is precedent.

How does something that we say everytime a guy like Jarron Jones or Brionte Dunn is talking about visitng Michigan get marked as overrated?

We have some people that neg people if they say anything that sounds at all like bad news, it doesn't matter if the point is legitimate, or if it is delivered in a calm, courteous, and respectful manner. Go figure. Personally, I like to examine everything related to us, whether it be good news or bad, strength or weakness. Fortunately, these days, we sure have a lot of good things to chatter about . . .

Yeah I agree. Obviously I hope he stays committed to us, but if I get excited when guys that are committed to other schools take a visit to Michigan why can't I make a statement about the possible negatives of Richardson visiting other campuses? I guess if Jones or Dunn takes an official I should say they are just visiting AA for the free trip?

That's one of the downsides of the current mod system.  Unneccesary downvotes were bad enough, but they were at least generic. Now people get tagged with stuff that doesn't apply.

I wish there was a "disagree" option or a "you're wrong" option.

At least from where I'm sitting, the difference is that officials are free. If someone like Jones or Dunn is footing the bill for an unofficial to visit us, that's where I start to think there might be more to it. Also, Jones is a soft commit to PSU and Dunn has made no secret of the fact that he's considering other options. If T-Rich says he's still 100% Blue, I believe him.

I'm a Michigan homer of the highest order, and I want T-Rich in maize and blue.  But how can we ask these kids to leave chances like this on the table?  Not only is it a chance to see several college towns and some solid football games, but it is also a chance for him to be absolutely sure he wants to end up in Ann Arbor.  Do we really want kids enrolling without being sure?

With that said: c'mon, Terry, our helmets have wings...

I agree that he should be 100% sure, but by definition if he needs to take official visits to be sure than how can we say he is 100% committed? I fully expect T-rich to be blue and I can't wait to watch him play for us. I'm sorry I said anything remotely negative.

I see where you're coming from, but I think we're taking different views of "100% committed" I don't see T-Rich saying that, no matter what, there is no chance he won't end up at Michigan. Stuff comes up: family issues, grade issues, new facts about the school, etc.

When he says he's 100%, I hear him saying, "I fully intend to enroll at Michigan, and I'm not taking visits because I'm wavering.  I'm just gonna go see some schools."

But you don't just  "go see the school" when you're on an official visit.  You get a hard sell from the school when you're there.  When a coach gets a kid on campus, he sees that as his big chance to nail him down.  If he goes on recruiting visits elsewhere, he's agreeing to hear these coaches out and get the full sales pitch.  He's more likely than not to remain in the fold, but it's hard to take the "100% committed" line at face value if he visits elsewhere.

If there are more talented players interested in us than we have spots for, we can ask this of them quite easily.  Can we commit to a kid that isn't fully committed to us?

if i would have had the opportunity these kids have i would have taken every free trip possible.  Some of these kids have never been out of their own block and this is the first time for them to see other parts of the country.  I have no worries about him being Blue, let the kid enjoy the ride!

Usually I would be pissed about hearing that he wants to take visits. But I have never been more confident about all of these kids staying committed. If you just follow them on twitter they are already talking to eachother everyday about how the future at Michigan is bright. The other schools better worry about them stealing their recruits.

Rabbit21

Yeah I'm worried about that as well. Still with most of the class filled up early the coaches can concentrate on keeping guys in the fold vs. Trying to spread their attentions. Either way if the guys take visits I hope they have fun, but think about how much better Michigan is at the same time.

If I'm a kid in high school and I know where I'm going in my future, why wouldn't I take some free trips to California, Florida, Texas, Oregon, etc? I bet Terry Richardson just wants to have some fun in the fall.

BiSB

If they want to enroll 20 guys early, they can. They would only back-date the available number from the previous class.  I interpreted the question more as "how many kids can enroll early and not count against the class," though that may not be how it was intended.

We actually can't backdate a number matching the spots open, we can only count up to three kids to last class as long as there's room (which there is). As many kids as would like to can enroll early, but only three can be counted in the 2011 class.

This comes from the Big Ten. They'll let you "oversign" the 25-man yearly class limit by up to three players provided you have three early enrollees to count towards the previous class, and room in that class to fit those kids under the limit.

Not sure what the official reason for it being three is but I assume it's to prevent ridiculous oversigned classes like we see in other conferences. It keeps the class sizes at a maximum of 28 kids, provided you had a fairly small class the year before.

But FWIW, I saw this exchange on twitter between Laquon Treadwell and Shane Morris where Laquon basically tells Shane that he will commit once he gets an offer. This does confirm what Tom said about Treadwell. I posted this in TomVH's update but It was a response in the middle. Since this thread is about twitter I thought I would also post it here.

Shane Morris
Yeah of course I did! When are you ganna?
