OT: What's with the scarlet red boarders around everyone's avatar? Did I miss something, or is my computer just melting down. It's like I'm on an Tsio board. Brady Hoke would not approve of this much red. It is not tremendous.

Happiness is MSU ranked in the preason and then going 4-0 or 5-0 before they play us.  A nice win over ND, a Top 10 ranking and then a loss to Michigan makes Spartan tears ever so delicious.  Plus it makes the East Lansing furniture salesman happy and stimulates the state econ.

The way I see it they loose to ND. Sparty will try and rationalize it. They loose a close one to OSU; their confidence is rattled a tad and in the back of their minds they know the B1G title game is out of reach. So Sparty then focuses all their effort for two weeks on Michigan. They loose a heart crusher at home to Hoke-Robinson. Then they get the gauntlet of Wisconsin and Nebraska. Wisconsin will be out for revenge. With any confidence they may of had after the UM loss now gone they close the season with losses @Iowa and @Northwestern. NO BOWL. Sparty fades into relevance for good after Hoke wins the 2013 MNC.

I know Cam Newton is gone but the defending national champs starting out at #23, I can't remember the last time a team went from #1 and had that much of a drop to start the next season.

Florida State at #6 is a little too generous.

Arkansas #15 just after losing Ryan Mallett is rather generous as well.

The 3 rings of evil at 16 through 18...we'll see how that goes.

I see notre dame is over-hyped as usual early in the season.  You would think that after seeing their performance for the past however many years, voters would finally catch on, but its the same reach as usual.  I cannot remember the last time they were as good as their ranking (seriously, i really can't).

They were in an identical situation last year and were 4-5 plays away from being a 2 loss team.  Cierre Wood is a legitimate major D-1 running back.  Dayne Crist will win the QB job and be as serviceable as both jimmah and quinn were.  They return 16 starters (plus 2 special teamers), all now in their second year under the new regime.  They will be favored in all but two games, and the michigan st line will probably be close to even depending on the UM outcome.  Show me more than two losses on their schedule?

They only beat USC because Ronald Johnson dropped the game winning TD pass.  They got blown out by Navy.  Their best actual win last year was against a Utah team with an inflated record (got smoked by TCU and Boise, beat Pitt in OT).

Michigan returns more talent (from a team that was better last year) and (still) has a better coaching staff.  These rankings will look a lot different after the season (and after week 2).

ND may very well be good, but how on earth can anyone claim that they have a HC with a clue?

Does anyone remember the Tulsa game last season? Kelly cost them that game.

What about the Michigan game? Passing up on a FG at the end of the half with his backup QB who tossed the ball out of the endzone by 20 yards IIRC.

This guy also put Crist back in the game against us, which never should have happened given his symptoms.

He also has no clue about video towers and wind speeds.

Let's not forget the Floyd situation...

I'm sorry, but until this guy proves he's not another Weis, I'm just going to assume he is. Great offensive mind and blowhard who is being annointed the messiah after one decent season.
