Weis won X number of superbowls though right?

And RR had a ridiculous record in the Big East also.

I'm just saying...

If ND had not won their last 4 games last season, no one would be ranking them so high.

And the problem is that their last four games weren't that tough.

If they had played our schedule (Purdue, Wisconsin, OSU, Miss. State), I bet they would have went 1-3 just like us, or at best 2-2.

And then no one would be talking up Kelly like they are.

I'd rather just wait and see what happens in years 2,3, and 4 because we have all seen ND come crashing back down to earth multiple times this decade.

I'm by no means saying they're an elite team, or that Kelly is an elite coach.  I was simply stating that he's competent enough to lead this team to 1-2 losses this year, the schedule is set up for no less, and they're returning plenty of talent to get it done.  3-4 years ago you could look at their schedule and be 100% sure of multiple losses, I just can't seem to find those losses on their schedule this year.  That's the beauty of ND, they don't have to play the big ten schedule, and thus years like this will come around for them.

I agree that things do set up pretty well for them this year, and that they do have the potential to make a BCS bowl.

But if they aren't as good as everyone is predicting, things could get rough as well.

They could lose to Michigan and MSU again. USC will be a better team. Stanford is good again and that game is in Palo Alto. And let's not forget Navy, AF, @Pitt, and BC.

I'm not saying they will lose all of those games. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if they lost 3, and more is possible if they have any major injuries.

But overall, I agree with you. They LOOK like they should have a decent team this year. As for most teams, however, it will come down to the bounces they get and don't get.

Do the two people voting for Boise for first really believe they are the best team in the nation, or are they just bitter about not having a playoff?

Im sick of all the ND slurping. This team lost to UM last year not to mention Tulsa and was blown out by Navy. Spare me the QB was injured excuses, thats part of the game and Crist played the last few drives and didnt do squat..They may be an improved team this year but lets wait and see before hyping up whats traditionally the most overrated team in the country.

Until the big ten plus notre dame goes toe to toe with the elite of the SEC and PAC 10/12 on a consistent basis, I have a hard time calling any big 10 schedule "murderer's row." is it better than the big east / acc? Absolutely. But let's not pretend that schedules are more difficult than they actually are just because big 10 schools are consistently overhyped. Just look at the top flight bowl records of the big 10 v. PAC 10 / sec over the last decade. I'm drinking the michigan cool aid as much as anyone, but just in the big 10 context.
