2011 Michigan vs Ohio

Submitted by goblue16 on

This game feels like it was years ago but still is one of my favorite Michigan-OSU games. I was so happy for Denard and the rest of the seniors for finally beating OSU somethin Henne and Hart couldnt do. I thought this would turn the rivalry around in our favor. Hopefully we can replicate these results on saturday. GO BLUE!!

One of the great things about this game is that it was a sunny, warm day for late November. Once I left the stadium (after spending some time on the field), I went home and took the family to the Toledo Zoo lights, all of us proudly wearing our Michigan gear. It was an awesome time.

Al called a good game.  OL blocked well.  We had over 200 yrd of rushing.  The offense looks good.  What gives?  Has Al forgotten how to game plan? Have other coaches figured out his schemes? Is it the personnel?

Several factors here:

1)  Most importantly, that was a 6-7 OSU team that had basically started circling the drain.  That was the third of a four game losing streak for OSU that year.

2)  The offensive line was decent to good.  It included Molk and Lewan, who were great, and Schofield, Omameh, and Huyge who were all serviceable.

3)  Denard had learned to run alot of that style of offense under RichRod and was brilliant during that game.  It was the high point for his passing, and there were at least two TD drives where most of the yards came on 40+ yard Robinson runs.  Devin Gardner is now a far cry from that Denard, and Borges does try to call a different game with Devin at the helm.

Storming the field, chanting 'BCS!'. loudspeakers playing 'Good Life' by One Republic, Urban hadn't been hired yet. We thought the world was ours...

See, I saw UM destroy OSU through most of the 80s and all the 90s, so this was just a taste of how far we have fallen thanks to our piss poor Athletic directors, coaches and culture of defeat. Yes, I am pissed we have sucked since 2001.

Michigan hasn't exactly been the gold standard in bowl games.

That 2007 Rose Bowl Game was worthless to me. Deserved a rematch in the MNCG. Which they would have won. I'll be bitter about that until I die.

It was the first Michigan-Ohio State game my brother and I attended as adults. It was such a beautiful day, with an amazing atmosphere. The sky seemed the limit for what Hoke and co. could do with this program. My oh my what a difference 2 years makes.

I am having a strange feeling we win this week.  I am pissed off with the staff, Borges, and ths shit year.  But I can't shake this strange sense we have one of those anomoly games where we play lights out.  I think Urban's streak ends this weekend, and I think we do it convincingly.

I know it sounds nuts, but I can shake this feeling.  Michigan 31   OSU 20

A win's a win, but it's not quite the same against an interim head coach with a team on sanctions.  Even so they almost beat us.  We still really need a win agasint a full strength squad, dare I say in Columbus.
