2005 Michigan at Michigan St.

Submitted by goblue16 on

I can finally uload games again!! What better game than an overtime classic against Michigan state. Going into this game most people were writing us off. Michigan state was 4-0 we were 2-2 with loses to wisconsin and note dame. They were ranked #11 and we were unranked. Very similar situation right now. Anyone think we can match these results? anyone? Enjoy. GO BLUE!!!

I was at Fort Hood, TX going through mobilization exercises. Checking my phone all day, progression went something like, "Yeah, nice!...NICE!...Aw, shit come on, man...YEAH!...FUCK! Are you kidding me?...YEAH! FUCK YEAH!!!"

The main thing I remember about that game is all the shit talk from MSU fans that week. That was suppose to be the game where they get revenge on us from the 2004 3OT game, in which the September heisman winner Drew Stanton would destroy us. Well Stanton was garbage that game and he came off has a d-bag with his segment how he ripped the cover off his NCAA football game because it had a Michigan player on. Our out of shape defense still almost blew it, though.

This was the second game I took my wife to actually - the first was Braylonfest.

Another classic Mike Hart performance, of course - 36 carries, 218 yards and 1 rushing TD. As I recall from the boxscore (for some reason I remember it), Chad Henne accounted for the other half of the offense that day with something like 3 TDs. I believe there was one pick too. Two week later, if I remember, was "TOUCHDOWN MANNINGHAM!"

Remember when we called that year the season of infinite pain? I called for Jim Herrman's head after game one.

That was a great game, however despite the bogus MSU TD because of a fumble return that wasn't a fumble and Garrett Rivas missing a FG near the end of the 4th quarter.

It was the strangest feeling in the world coming into this game with Michigan as the underdog for the first time since 1968.
But it was still better than feeling dead inside like I do coming into this year's MSU game.

Antonio Bass wildcat look. That was nice work, and compared to this season's offense, absolutely magnificent. Chad Henne and Mike Hart good at football.

Maybe it's just the grainy YouTube resolution but are those road whites pretty much just white and blue like Penn State's? If so, I really like the look as a minimalist companion to the home blues ... but is there some maize trim on the numbers?

Bittersweet to watch.  It was a great victory but tough to accept how we lost our way.  We used to have a 1,000-yard rusher and 1,000-yard receiver every year and sent a series of QBs to the NFL.  And the disgusting thing is that Sparty has stolen our script.

I was at this game. Michigan was the underdog and going into the game nobody was sure if Hart was going to play. If Hart was fully healthy he would have ran another 50 yards atleast.

A few of those runs you could tell he was hurting. Crazy game.

I was there for this game and the first Cold War. I'm good now, I don't ever need to go back.

1 v 2 in Columbus, which I assume means we were undefeated, old man memory & too lazy to look it up, 2007 was disappointing but had that huge Bowl win over Tebow-who, but that Harvin guy is almost as good as our Hart (why would he suddenly fumble very time near goal line when hadn't in 4 years before, ever). So when folks say our offense has been stuck in dinosaur land forever and our defense was always shoddy, I'm kinda confused. Could be that old man thing again, but forever is 7-8 years now? We started a steady downhill trend with end of Lloyd & start of RR and have continued straight down since, except 2011 blip, seems more like to me. What's amazing is how far we've fallen in just 7-8 years, just two bad coaches (for us)? Now we need a majority let to reverse course, & miracles tend to be up & comers tht pan out: Bo, eg. Tressell (shudder to say those two names so close, but similar is that neither was a sure thing, big hire, and I fear we're not going to get one of those latter. So here's hoping we get lucky with what we can get! Or Jim Harbough comes, tho I'm not seeing that at all likely given has cold-shoulder us before
