2 other good games on at 330 which one will you tune to during commercials?
September 9th, 2010 at 8:45 AM ^
I'll have Michigan/ND on the TV, OSU/Miami on the desktop, Florida St/Oklahoma on the laptop, and BYU/Air Force on in the other room. Should get me covered.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:55 AM ^
No TV in the bathroom?
September 9th, 2010 at 9:06 AM ^
Yeah, you can only pee when there is the "perfect storm" of all four games in commercial. Not likely, but possible.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:05 AM ^
Ever watch the Red Zone Channel? You basically aren't able to pee on Sundays.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:15 AM ^
Maybe the greatest invention of all time. No exaggeration.
September 9th, 2010 at 1:11 PM ^
RedZone is actually football porn. It ruins other games for you. After watching it, I always expect 3rd and 10 plays to result in long, beautiful touchdowns. It's like watching TBS after a porno: "Why are they just standing there talking? It's been 3 minutes and no one has taken their clothes off!!"
September 9th, 2010 at 8:10 PM ^
This explains my confusion during a recent episode of House Hunters.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:08 AM ^
But the team hotel down in Orlando for the Bowl game has that. It's seems extraneous...but it's strangely addicting.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:35 AM ^
If I leave the bathroom door cracked in my man cave, I can see my big screen from the throne. Obviously not much use at parties, but if I'm watching alone . . .
You've got to take these things into consideration. I call it feng shui-it.
TMI?
September 9th, 2010 at 11:23 AM ^
NEI
EDIT: In my old apartment, I had a bathroom off my bedroom, so I could also watch TV from the can when I felt so inclined.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:43 AM ^
and I can see the kitchen TV from the downstairs can.
September 9th, 2010 at 12:21 PM ^
Two mirrors is the key--so the picture isn't reversed.
Were the mirrors set up for the purpose, or just luck?
September 9th, 2010 at 2:50 PM ^
One day a new mirror was right in front of me above the toilet ("looks great, honey") and for what I asked...then I realized with some leanin' I could see the wall in the kitchen. The wall now has an arbitrary mirror facing a small TV in the kitchen. After several beverages, it can be a little disorientating though. Word to the wise.

Arkansas State vs. Louisiana-Lafayette
September 9th, 2010 at 10:48 AM ^
GO CANES !!!!!!
September 9th, 2010 at 8:47 AM ^
When Michigan is on, the channel NEVER changes. However I will check out the OSU/Miami game afterwards on the DVR.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:59 AM ^
I refuse to change the channel and risk the chance of missing something. I will pause it when I use the bathroom and carefully fast forward when I get back. I have mastered the art of hitting the play button at the perfect moment as well.... Not that anyone cares.
September 10th, 2010 at 2:41 PM ^
I know exactly what you are talking about when you say...
I have mastered the art of hitting the play button at the perfect moment as well
September 9th, 2010 at 10:24 AM ^
Although it is worth saying, GOOOO HURRICAAAAAAANEEEZZZZZZZ!!!!!
September 9th, 2010 at 8:56 AM ^
but I will just comment. What a f#%king great day of football. The remote hand will be tired, if only Brian Kelly had not fundamentally realligned NBC's broadcast, I would have even more commercial time. Oklahoma v. FSU as the third option, unbelievable. Alabama v. Penn State is offset by Tenessee v. Oregon at the 7:00 PM slot. I may develop bed sores from couch.
With a little SEC appetizer to get things started tonight, a "new head coach visits his old stomping ground" C-USA v. Big East ceaser salad on Friday night, and then the main course, Glorious.
And who could forget the "Spartans in the D?" Aside from everybody that is.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:37 AM ^
What a f#%king great day of football.
This a thousand times. At noon, there's UGA-SCAR. At 3:30, there are 3-4 great looking games. At 7, there's Oregon-UT. The late game is State Penn - 'Bama. It's going to be an awesome day of football.
And my wife is out of town this weekend, so I will be watching football and drinking beer and farting and passing out and watching more football. And then, at noon, I'll start watching more football.

I am extremely interested in the OSU-Miami game, because I think by the end of the season, the Denard Robinson comparisons to Jacory Harris are going to be everywhere.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:11 AM ^
I disagree completely, but not because either one isn't good. Harris is not a runner at all. He's got a negative rushing average for his career, and they don't have called-runs implemented (generally speaking) in Miami's offense. Moreover, Harris prefers to throw the deep ball and less of the short stuff. What we've seen of DR this season is mostly short to mid-range stuff. I just think that they're very different kinds of players, with very different strengths.
Of course, I'm assuming that you aren't using this comparison to say that DR will be throwing a lot of interceptions.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:17 AM ^
I guess I never looked at his stats that closely. I'm sure you've checked them out a lot more since they're playing. Huh. Now I feel sheepish.
I guess the only times I've watched him, he was so freaking athletic I just ASSUMED he ran all over the place.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:52 AM ^
There will be no DR to Jacory comparisons.
September 9th, 2010 at 11:24 AM ^
OOOH YEAH SEXY REXY
September 9th, 2010 at 10:16 AM ^
Totally cant wait for that South Carolina/UGA game.....but also at noon is USF/Florida
Gators probably will blow them out (line is -16), but after last week, I really want to see how they play against a pretty decent team.
I'll be locked into both games, for sure
September 9th, 2010 at 10:43 AM ^
that is great stuff.
Seriously, great news on your wife being out of town, perfect weekend for it. On the other hand, my wife's birthday always falls on Michigan-ND weekend, so I have had to gatther myself after mutiple South Bend debacles and put on a happy face for the obligatory birthday Saturday dinner.
Stupid wife, why would you put your birthday on Michigan-ND weekend!?!? Just selfish man.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:51 AM ^
Yeah, it's working out pretty well this year. Her birthday falls on an OSU bye week (Saturday, in fact), our anniversary is in the middle of July, and we're expecting our first child in March. There's really only one weekend that's off-limits in the fall (although bowl season is a little more tricky - she always wants to "spend time with our families" and "not sit in front of the tv for 12 hours in a row").
September 9th, 2010 at 10:59 AM ^
what a joke.
September 9th, 2010 at 1:01 PM ^
Have the family sit in front of the tv for 12 hours in a row with you. You get the quality family time without, you know, having to talk too much.
September 9th, 2010 at 12:55 PM ^
west coast?
I was actually supposed to do yard work this Saturday morning up to about gametime, but rain is forecast, thank heavens (literally!).

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
September 9th, 2010 at 8:53 AM ^
I just kind of map out all the channels that are showing college football, and I rotate between them during commercials.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:57 AM ^
I DVR our game and flip during commercials - can then go back and catch anything missed.
Definitely will be some picture-in-picture happening on my screen. Don't normally use it but this is what is was made for.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:57 AM ^
as my father in-law is being inducted in the Nebraska football HOF and hoping to be out in time for the game. Just in case I'll be DVRing M/ND and OSU/The U.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:58 AM ^
Watch FSU/Oklahoma during commercials. Planning to DVR OSU/Miami but its gonna be impossible not to see score updates

Same problem here. You can usually find links to working live streams at the bottom of the game day live chat on the front page. You might also want to check this link out:

Why isn't OSU/Miami on at 8-9? (NASCAR, I guess, is the answer). But that should be more interesting than Alabama/PSU. And I'd rather flip between those two. Because OSU has the second most interesting game of the day.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:16 AM ^
i was thinking the same thing.. have miami/ohio state a night game or the oklahoma/florida state a night game. i think the penn state/alabama will be over at halftime, i hope i'm wrong but just a feeling
September 9th, 2010 at 9:18 AM ^
Oh Ohio State I guess. I am not sold Miami is that great. Hopefully they'll sell me. I am not one of those "rooting for the Big Ten" when we don't play them fans. Definitely want to see the Buckeyes tip.

Turn to during commercials? I will be at the bar, son!
September 9th, 2010 at 9:38 AM ^
and the cabin gets one channel on the TV. And that channel is not ABC. So I had to head out to BWW in Coldwater to watch the game. An excellent venue, if I do say so.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:31 AM ^
Commercials are for spending time with family, using the restroom, doing push ups, and ranting on mgoblog.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:32 AM ^
If this is super obvious to everyone...oops, my bad...but I thought some might not know that if they have Comcast cable (with a dual-tuner box), the tiny "swap" button in the PIP menu on the remote will swap between your tuners. That means you can pause the Michigan game, swap over to the OSU (or PSU) game, pause, and swap back to the other paused game.
You never have to miss anything and can skip through commercials. Again, maybe that's really obvious, but I have a feeling many people don't know of the tiny "swap" button and it's magical powers.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:14 AM ^
Better stay off MGoBlog at the time.
September 9th, 2010 at 11:05 AM ^
I definitely stay off the computer and cell if I'm behind in timing, but generally I have my primary game (obviously, Michigan) which I pause going into a commercial. Then, I swap to the other game, watch it for a bit and swap back to Michigan. At that point, I just FF through the commercials and it's back to game time...right on time. It's all a matter of practice. I have much practice.

...weeks like this are the one problem with the band going to ND. I'll be on a bus at 7 am, at the game all afternoon and on a bus home until 12:30 or so. I hope to go the busses have wifi or I'm going to be missing a lot of quality football this weekend.
