2 More MSU Players Charged; "Fight" is now an "Altercation"

Submitted by 4roses on
It appears that two more MSU players have been charged: http://www.freep.com/article/20100126/SPORTS07/100126019/1319/2-more-MS… Interesting note regarding this Freep report - the incident in question is now being referred to as an "altercation". So apparently the Freep has backed off from the "fight", but is unwilling to classify this as an assault.

Looks like Dantonio will be forced to man-up and suspend his starting DT for the opening game next season. Fair is fair. Unless, of course, there isn't much depth at that position... then he can just suspend him until Spring ball starts.

Why is a gang attack or assault being referred to as an "altercation?" If fourteen UM players had assaulted a frat house, I can guarantee that the media would have a cute name for it ("The Michigan Massacre," etc....)within 24 hours. I wish the MSM would show even a tenth of the bile toward MSU that they show toward UM; it would restore my faith in "objectivity."

Yeah, what would it take to get a cute name for the MSU gang-related assault and near-rape/genocide, like "Posse Roundup & Engineer/Woman Beatdown?" If only someone would take up this cause to senselessly sensationalize stories- then I would believe in objectivity too.

we need someone to sit austin down in a dark room and just read the stories of his brothers not applying discipline to their lives in hopes he steers clear of similar bs

so if the FREEP now believes that a premeditated felonious assualt is an "altercation", I guess we can now refer to a gang rape as an "orgy", right?

the offenders will be charged with "misdemeanor counts of assault or assault and battery" rather than with misdemeanor counts of altercating. Freep headline writer : FAIL.

As ridiculous as the coverage of this event has been, it just proves once and again that MSU is nationally irrelevant. I would rather it be a big deal for Michigan to commit a small infraction than a for MSU committing a large infraction. We are much more relevant nationally and are held to a higher standard. It may be tough while we are down, but it will make our return that much better.

It's a good thing that Dantonio is dominating the in-state recruiting war because at this rate he'll need every single person he can find off the street to even field a team next year.
