I hope it's Appling and Harris. That would cripple their team.

This isn't OT.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:24 PM ^
Were there Ski Masks involved?
January 16th, 2013 at 2:46 PM ^
I bet Harris was throwing a fist pump that cannot possibly be misconstrued as a punch.
January 16th, 2013 at 4:01 PM ^
no fist pump to the groin can be a punch! who would do that?
January 16th, 2013 at 2:50 PM ^
That wouldn't be too smart if it was Harris. He's got a bum shoulder from what I hear.
January 16th, 2013 at 2:50 PM ^
These guys will be suspended for forgetting that it's members of the school's other teams you're supposed to beat up.
January 16th, 2013 at 2:51 PM ^
Says it was Dawson and Payne.
January 16th, 2013 at 2:52 PM ^
When I read it I assumed they were fighting somebody else, but they were fighting each other. That's awesome.
Also funny, the tweet right before the breaking news about the fight was that Tom Izzo got some sort of humanitarian award. Sweet.
January 16th, 2013 at 2:56 PM ^
Pot luck. Engineers. Ski masks.
Had to be said.
January 16th, 2013 at 2:59 PM ^
Breslin Center camera's are powerful and will reach State College and show no punches were landed.

Probably not a huge deal unless one of the players seriously hurt the other...as much as I love Sparty tears, I am pretty sure players on most teams in America have gotten into a pushing match/tiff with a team member in their career
January 16th, 2013 at 4:19 PM ^
but usually it doesn't result in property damage or a call to local police to investigate. I fought my best friend at a basketball camp at K once but we were careful not to break the trophy case nearby and we were only 15 at the time. Most grown men at least choose to take their fights outside.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:04 PM ^
It's okay, you guys. None of the punches thrown will actually be considered punches.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:05 PM ^
This could be the turning point in the season where this team either takes off to success or angles down to failure.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:08 PM ^
Well, the Penn State police are looking into this, so we know nothing will happen.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:11 PM ^
You win the day, sir.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:37 PM ^
That post alone proves that only 5 up votes are not justice for original humor. Post of the day right there!
January 16th, 2013 at 3:16 PM ^
looks like a non-event. Anyway, I want Penn State to beat them at full strength so hopefully no suspensions.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:22 PM ^
I could give a damn if PSU beats a troupe of four-year-old girls wearing Spartan uniforms over tutus so long as they win. If you're worried about Sparty excuses, they'll have them regardless of what happens.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:27 PM ^
Truth!!!
January 16th, 2013 at 3:29 PM ^
I know I'll be a huge PSU, Nebraska, Northwestern and Iowa fan, especially against IU, Illinois, MSU, OSU, Minnesota and apparently Wisconsin. That goes doubly true when the former teams are on the road.
The more losses at the top of the conference, the bigger the window for M to win it, and if MSU trotting out "a troupe of four-year-old girls wearing Spartan uniforms" helps, so be it.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:34 PM ^
We need to hope that Wisconsin can come back down to life a little bit here after the huge win last night. As they were not a team that I had previously expected to be someone to worry about at the end of the season. Meaning, they may knock a team or two off, like last night. Not a team that we had to worry about tying for or competing for the championship out right against, considering we only play them once and on the road.

the news in Happy Valley but something else doesnt...... nevermind!!! Same old Sparty HAHAHA Silly Little Brother

comical meltdown.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:33 PM ^
Don't waste your time, here's a summary:
Blue wall....rabble....rabble.....awesome that team's fired up.....rabble....blue wall.....
This concept they have formed of a "blue wall" is idiotic to me, since the Freep did everything in its power to take down Michigan for stretching a bit much. Why they seem to think we get the favorable coverage is incomprehensible to me.

boobs....rabble...walverine....rabble.....rabble.....boobs
January 16th, 2013 at 5:45 PM ^
What's your beef with boobs, man?
January 16th, 2013 at 3:30 PM ^
Meet your newest Iowa State Cyclones, Brendan Dawson and Adrien Payne.
January 16th, 2013 at 3:33 PM ^
Their upcoming schedule is Ohio State, @Wisconsin and @Indiana. So if there is going to be any discipline, it will surely happen tonight. Perhaps Izzo will drop the hammer and force them each to ride the bench until the first TV timeout.

NBCSports is on this - (LINK)
Supposedly, it happened on the second floor rotunda of the hotel, it did get physical and one player was shoved into a wall. The police were called but the article says no arrests were made nor charges filed as of this afternoon anyway. It mentions there were minor cuts sustained by both players but they did not seek attention. No names yet either.
EDIT:
RT @diamond83: Tom Izzo said scuffle was between Adreian Payne and Branden Dawson.

another thing to note according to a tweet I saw, neither player will start. So, they can be expected after the first media timeout? Real humanitarian of Coach Izzo

i'll be honest, getting into a fight with a teammate isn't that big of a deal. not suspension worthy.
January 16th, 2013 at 4:28 PM ^
its in your house behind closed doors!! I think when your on the road, you represent your school and your team! Just my 2 cents, I think its a big deal!
January 16th, 2013 at 5:03 PM ^
I don't think it is, or should be, a big deal. But i respect the fact that others (you among them) may think othwerwise. I don't understand, though, being ok with a tussle at home vs on the road. It should be a consistent standard. If in-fighting is a huge deal the location shouldn't matter (i concede there are a few exceptions but a hotel room is not among them). If you aren't ok with them fighting on the road then you shouldn't be ok with them fighting at home.
January 16th, 2013 at 6:02 PM ^
Your right, maybe I just explained myself wrong! I know my kids act very different at home than they do when they are at their friends house. Very well behaved away from home but bad ass kids at home ha. I just think its much harder to bury this when your away from home, so its harder to throw under the rug, I guess. I know its MSU but they should try and compose themselves for the image of the school. IMO

More discipline issues for Izzo. Its becoming an epidemic.
