1991 Michigan vs Ohio St.

Submitted by goblue16 on

One of the biggest wins vs the buckeyes in recent history. It was a fitting end to a great carrer for so many Michigan Men. Desmonds heisman pose was probably the highlight of the game. We ended the season 10-1 Big ten Champs #3 in the nation. Too bad the Rose Bowl didnt turn out so well.

One interesting thing from the stats for this game is that Howard's punt return (93 yards) almost matched his total receiving yardage on the day (96 yards on 3 receptions). The only other Michigan player to have more than 10 receiving yards on the day was Yale Van Dyne.

How didn't Cooper get fired after 1993? He was 0-5-1 against Michigan!

That game is all that matters to them.

And Tressel was the opposite - crapped the bed repeatedly in big OOC games, but couldn't miss against Michigan.  Kinda ironic as this helped fuel the perception issues they're dealing with today.

Certainly could be argued that it was better for the Big Ten as a conference when OSU was under Cooper and could beat anyone not named Michigan.  I know I was a happier dude.

Cheers.

I would have appreciated these good UM teams in the mid 80s through the 90s while I was younger. I just thought this was normal Michigan football and got upset when they lost a couple or 3 games. But these teams blow away anything we had since 2006! I can't really say the future will be much better. Just a bunch of 4 to 3 loss teams!

Whatever. Who gives a shit. This team has nothing to do with thing to do with with any other team. Quit trying to thing think that they relate. If this team does anything significant then good for them .

Watchiing that 91' team block -  The running game looks unlike so much modern football i've watched. Honest question: Did the blocking rules change dramatically since 1991? I mean to me it literally looks like totlaly different blocking techniques being used.

I remember that game from my freshman year.  It rained the whole time and my buddy wore a brand new suede jacket to the game and ruined it.

However, that was a great capper to a fantastic regular season.  The first home game was ND with The Catch and the last was a beatdown of OSU, lets not talk about the Rose Bowl.....

He's like that mythical father figure. No matter how it's going on the field, when they cut back and you see Cooper over there, you feel warm and secure, with faith that everything's going to be a-ok.
