Football hasn't given you ONE thing to be excited about.

Hell, I'm more looking forward to the "NBA or Stay" announcements than I am ANYTHING football releated.

That shouldn't be the case. We should be fired up about spring ball. Then we should be fired up to see where our guys go in the draft. Then it gets dull and you watch the pro sports playoffs in June. Then it's July and it's some recruit hype mixed in with "real life" and by August we should be full bore Michigan Football...ready to kick some ass and push for a national title.

It's sad that football doesn't provide ANY of that. No one wants to get their hopes up knowing we haven't done ANYTHING on the field to warrant us getting our hopes up. It's not like we've got a bunch of guys returning who've proven they can dominate.

I'm not saying we're going to be bad...I'm just saying they haven't earned anyone's hype or emotional investment over the spring/summer like they should. Like they used to.

Hoke said it isn't going to be a game it will be more like a practice. It is hard to understand if they will scrimmage.

I think it is an ominous sign when our coach says it will be a practice and we need as many practice reps as we can get. The other two time we've done that (2008 and 2013) it didn't end so well.

my point was, the years we had a more game-like spring game, were coupled by relative season improvement from the season prior. The implication of Hoke's statement is we appear to be doing even less game-like play in this spring game compared to last year's, and that was less than the year before. That doesn't sound promising.

My view: Our best hope is the new defensive schemes significantly improve our defense, because we have an even less experienced O line (injuries and a suspension don't help). If they pull off a season better than last season, it will be an outperform.

the OL was underperforming last year, and that the overall design of the offense was a factor. I, too, am willing to hold out a hope for a dramatic improvement in the OL in the same category as the improvement in the D the first year under Mattison.

very quiet on the football front, probably mostly to the BB team.  I'm not going to dwell too much on the UK game, now time to get fired up for team 135

I'm so tired of losing in football.

We deserve to be engaged in our teams year around. Basketball is doing it, you can't expect any more than they've given the past 2 years. Football needs to step the fuck up. It's put up or shut up time. No more excuses.

We need to win...and NOW. There is no reason we shouldn't be excited about football and the spring game and ready to switch gears to prepare for a Rose Bowl run.

There is no reason we shouldn't be all over the "spring gossip" and excited about the Spring Game and ready for another GREAT year of Michigan football. Hockey too.

We've got the facilities, we've got the money, we've got the tradition. This is MICHIGAN.

One or two down years is fine...but this is a JOKE what football has become. One good year since Carr retired. That's unacceptable, ESPECIALLY at Michigan.

I was ready to give Hoke a 9 win regular season and 10 wins with a bowl. I'm over that. We need to be playing for a B1G Championship. We need guys in the draft.

I should be all pumped up about the NFL draft seeing where 4-5 guys are going to go on the first couple of days and where 2-3 guys are going to go at the end of the draft. Whatever happened to those days?

It should be spring hype, spring game, draft hype, draft, recruiting, fall hype, great season, basketball, great season and repeat.

I'm willing to be patient for ONE more off season with nothing to be excited about (cause I damn sure ain't getting excited over anything until I see it in a game)...after this AWFUL summer that is about to happen. Football better be "back" and they better be here to stay.

We need more hardcore fans in this program. If I wanted to join a bandwagon, I would be a crimson tide fan. I'm excited for late August because it's Michigan godamnit! We may be 0-12. We may be 12-0, but I'll always be at the Big house.

Doesn't mean we're not hardcore fans.

I'm as hardcore as they get...but I'm not getting excited over anything in the offseason until they get back to winning and winning consistently. We're talking about the offseason.

No one said anything about not rooting as hard as we can when the season starts.

But I want to be excited about spring football. I want to be excited about the draft. I want to be excited about summer recruiting. I want to be excited about fall practice. All of that in ADDITION to the season.

THAT is how it used to be. Football was year around. Right now I'd be proud of basketball and immediately tuning into the spring to see who's playing well and how the depth chart is shaking out. Then I'd be following the draft to see where last year's guys are going to go. Then I'd be excited for the summer Michigan camp where we grab some big time recruits in the state. Before I looked up, it was fall and I was amped for the season and I couldn't get enough of the fall hype, news, and inside info.

Now it's like who cares about the spring, because they didn't do shit last year...so I'm not going to get excited until I see it in a game. Lewan is our only high draft pick and he's almost clearly going in the #8-16 range. I don't care about recruiting as much because we haven't done anything on the field with the current top recruits...and if we suck, Hoke is fired and these recruits we get the summer will decommit anyway. I don't care about the fall for the same reason I don't care about he spring.

That is b/s. At Michigan ALL of that should matter EVERY year. I shouldn't just be excited for those 3 short months during the season.

I have expectations outside of wins and losses that aren't being met regarding football. The gatekeepers of the program, the political power brokers who got us where we are - they have proven themselves as inept now as they were poorly behaved during the RR era. I just feel really bad for the players who have had to endure it.

Thank GOD for basketball. Everything we want a program to be and it exists outside the stink of Lloyd Loyalists and manipulative Second Estaters.

Football is for the future; I'll be there when the time comes but now is not the time. Now is stil the time for Michigan Basketball, the sadness, the decisions, the closure...
