What's our chances?
Shoelaces flapping in the wind!
He reportedly loved his time spent with the coaches and he is leaning towards playing football with Michigan being his choice if he played football and MSU being his choice if he played basketball. But we'll see.
Yep, that's Simba made out of a pineapple.
With no inside info, I tend to agree. From what I hear/read he tore it up at the Michigan camp and the coaches really liked him. Everyone talks about his upside being higher in football (which makes sense given his size and athletic ability), I think if he is thinking more on footbal he has a better connection with our coaches (after last week). Also the timing seems good- right after our camp.
Is it possible for him to play both at Michgan? What's the scholarship rule for 2 sport athletes? I'm guessing it would count away from both.
It's the same old story. Boy finds girl, boy loses girl, girl finds boy, boy forgets girl, boy remembers girl, girls dies in a tragic blimp accident over the Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.
just football. He has been told he can play both at Michigan (same with MSU I beleive)
Does he have a basketball offer from MSU/UofM? I thought only Booker, Bates-Diop and now Bluiett have offers from Beilein.
I'm guessing that if he wanted basketball to be his primary sport, he would want to go to a school that gave him one.
It wouldn't matter. If he played both sports, he'd have to take the scholarship in football and walk-on the basketball teams. I believe the only way around it would be to play basketball first, and then try-out for the football team afterwards.
This avoids getting extra scholarships by having your men's track team full of football scholarships.
Coach B doesn't have to offer him, he'd have his football scholarship and would walk on the basketball team after football season.
“True loyalty is that quality of service that grows under adversity and expands in defeat. Any street urchin can shout applause in victory, but it takes character to stand fast in defeat. One is noise — the other, loyalty.”
He's selecting what college he will attend for football on Wednesday. He'll choose his college for basketball at a later date, possibly a different school altogether.

The swag is back.
In the not too long running of my not too long memory, your best post!
And now my real answer:
If we're not chosen for his football commitment, do you think we have a chance for his basketball one?

Able to play basketball at one school and football at another?
Yep, that's Simba made out of a pineapple.
Sorry dude but can you stop posting for a year or something, every single single one of your posts get downvoted and there is a reason for it.
Take a redshirt year and learn from the bench, I know you want immediate posting time but I just don't think it's in the blogs best interest for you to post. It's hurting the blog, and no man is greater than the blog.
The Blog. The Blog. The Blog
Here's your solution, "Mr Mario:" change your handle and buy a style book. Learn the basics, such as punctuation and correct word usage. Then, come back as a "whole new you" and see if you can "hang with the big boys."
One other thing: you might want to stop reading replies. It will keep you from getting sucked into those pointless arguments that always end badly.
i have no idea what "past rant" you're talking about, and i only moderate content, not users (so i upvote or downvote based on each individual post), but as far as i can remember, most of your posts go down rather than up. learn to express yourself clearly. punctuation and a lot of grammar isn't all that important in internet fora, but you should still probably learn to spell if you don't want to get flamed.

Looks like MSU. Trieu posted an update about the decision just for them.
I think he would have came in for a visit with Beiein before announcing. Hopefully, I am wrong...
Adding to the Trieu thing TomVH pretty much said don't get your hopes up on the ESPN message board...
Ha, and then a couple of minutes after I posted this he explicitly stated don't get your hopes up. Bleh.
Tremendous is stating that the timing of the announcement likely means that the decision will be MSU as well. That was on the Facebook page a little while ago anyway.

I heard he's going to play football at Michigan and basketball at MSU.
Just kidding. You can't do that. He's going to state.
A little surprised he is announcing this early.
Well, there's still a long way until signing day of 2014.
I don't know what to believe. Party Room is saying different than others. What does he know that we don't.
THIS IS MICHIGAN
It just seems like its gonna be MSU, sounds like he really likes playing Basketball more than Football. Truthfully if you combine the 2 you gotta give MSU the lead in that aspect with Football not as far behind UM as UM's basketball is to MSU's (But, its not that far behind).
Hopefully tho he does pick UM as he is an amzing talent at both sports,
Because, historically, UM has a stronger basketball program than MSU, with the only real seasons where MSU was noticeably better being 2000-2008 or so. Sure, they have 2 national titles to our 1, but for most of Big Ten history, UM is the stronger program.
And the difference in the football programs is VAST. The last few years is not a good indicator of either, which is why I'm assuming you're young. That's OK - young people are wrong a lot. And it's a way better excuse than being dumb, so I'd go with it.
MSU has two national championships. Michigan has one. MSU has eight final four appearances. Michigan has four. MSU has 16 Sweet 16 appearances. Michigan has nine. MSU has won the Big Ten Tournament three times. UM has never won it. MSU and UM are tied with 13 Big Ten Regular Season titles - despite the fact that MSU has been in the Big Ten for 30-40 less years. Plus MSU doesn't have a gigantic scandal that ravaged the program.
I'm curious about your metrics.
Look - MSU has obviously done a lot under Tom Izzo, I won't take that away from you. But outside of the Izzo era and while Magic was there, MSU has been an average team.
Both UM and MSU have played in three national championship games, unless you count our two with the Fab Five, which you should, but that's fine if you don't. MSU won two of those, we won once. Yeah, MSU has more Big Ten tournament titles than UM but that's because the tournament is relatively new.
Don't blame your conference championship totals on being newer to the Big Ten than us, because you really didn't start winning them until the 90s anyway.
The point is - MSU basketball consists of one very dominant player, and one very good coach. So when you compare the two programs, it's fairly even. This is in contrast to the football programs, where the difference is comical.
Maybe your metrics are off. Michigan won the 1st ever B1G Tournament in '98.
I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right?
My metrics are on, your facts are off. Michigan forfeited that championship due to, you know, rampant cheating. Michigan has never won the Big Ten tournament.
It may have been vacated, but we still won it. Do you think our vacated loss to Ohio doesn't still feel like a loss? The games were played.
I'll repeat - Michigan has never won the Big Ten Men's basketball tournament. That is indisputable.
You should consider leaving now. It doesn't seem as if you have the proper temperment, exhibited by several MSU fans who do visit this site and contribute, to provide anything worthwhile to this online community.
The swag is back.
You're pretty quick on the draw
