With the ranking released today, Michigan is #19 for the first time since the 1997-98 season.

Tomorrow will be the first time Michigan has played a current-Big East team since the 2009 Old Spice Classic against Marquette.

A little extra note, this is the third consecutive year that Michigan is in the championship game of their early season tournament.

If we've learned anything from the past few years of conference realignment, TV is all that matters, so the fact that it's in NYC is irrelevant.  I can't imagine they are going to get much viewership with a broadcast that will end after midnight.

That's not that late, is it? I'm happy for the late start actually. My daughter's bedtime is 8 so she'll be out, my wife usually falls asleep pretty quickly after that. So, I should have the TV all to myself with no distractions. Hell yeah, Go Blue!!

I have the perfect excuse as I took Wednesday off anyway, although now with the wind damage all over the place here, I may have to work at least a portion of it. Fortunately, I can arrange it so that this portion does not coincide with basketball. I have not been as fortunate with football this year, missing parts of two games due to my storm assignment.

No excuses necessary. I'm a teacher. No school on Wednesday.

If I had an appropriate Ha-Ha nelson.gif handy I'd post it.

On the other hand my 10 month old son wouldn't let me sleep either late at night or early in the morning anyway, so...

I know it's early in the season, but this team is so young that a win over #12 Villanova could really be a positive catapult for the entire season. A loss, while not monumental, would mean we still have a ways to go (which I think most of us already know.) Hopefully the youngsters can get the job done and take a major step forward.

Villanova looked really good in dismantling VCU and will finish the year very high.  If MIchigan wins, it will be a great notch on the resume, but a loss here wouldn't be bad.  Michigan has already accomplished a passing grade for coming to Barclay's (solid win over Oregon, opportunity for another game against a highly-ranked opponent) and a win tonight would just be icing.

Having said that, I really hope we can pull it off!  Kam is going to need to have a big game.
