11/26 Michigan vs. Syracuse MBB
Any other day of the year I'm a Michigan fan as an alum... but today is not one of those days.
Michigan, you are so, so screwed.
Let's go Orange!
Actually, I'm very concerned about this game. We have a very young, very talented team that hasn't played well to start the season. Top-ranked center recruit Fab Melo has been invisible other than averaging an amazing five fouls per game. Our shooting has been atrocious and the shot-selection isn't helping.

might have a better team than Cuse at the moment.
Cuse has better talent, and if their big guys get going early thatll be tough to rebound from, the saying "you cant teach height" comes to mind, and CUse has 3 7 footers

Boeheim can recruit and he can coach...would love to see us pick up a W
I think I read somewhere that JB is 0-8 against boeheim
Tonight is the night he gets off the schneid
(on a odd topic weird that they both have tough to pronounce last names that start with B)

Did anyone find an online stream yet?
November 26th, 2010 at 9:27 AM ^
Now I am not saying Mich will win this game. However, I feel we have played pretty good at the beginning of the season. We have not played any real opponents, however the teams we have played, we beat like we were supposed to. There a pretty young team from what I read on the preview. Were a way younger team but we have talent. And if we can use that talent and shoot a little better today. I think we will keep it close. Now you saying you're michigan fan for only parts of the year is ridiculous. I'm a teenager, and throughout my short life I have never cheered for any team but the maize and blue. I don't know how you can either.

I have degrees from both - Syracuse for undergrad, Michigan for grad.
My ultimate loyalty when the two play is always with Syracuse.

Boooooooooo!!!!!
November 26th, 2010 at 9:31 AM ^
I really hope I can find a stream for this one. I have a good feeling about this game.
November 26th, 2010 at 9:40 AM ^
is this game on tv?.. i can't find it on any of the espn networks.
November 26th, 2010 at 9:42 AM ^
It's on HDNet. I guess the Big Ten Network feels the S. Illinois v. Iowa game will get more viewers.

I wonder how fast I can upgrade to the super super premium useless channels so I can watch the basketball game
November 26th, 2010 at 12:42 PM ^
you can do it with a phone call right now. You probably have to have a HD box in order to get HD net, otherwise the channel won't come in. On Monday call and cancel the service, and you will only be charged a few bucks for the weekends worth of watching.
November 26th, 2010 at 9:44 AM ^
The game is on HDNet which seems to be tough to find. I've found it on DirecTV on channel 306, not sure about cable providers.
November 26th, 2010 at 9:46 AM ^
Dylan put up a link to their channel finder. Comcast does have it on channel 382 in AA.
November 26th, 2010 at 9:46 AM ^
HDNet - It's available in Chicago and Ann Arbor on Comcast. Check here to see if it is available in your area.
November 26th, 2010 at 9:56 AM ^
It's not available on Comcast in Ann Arbor.
November 26th, 2010 at 10:04 AM ^
You're right. I remember having the channel when I lived in Ann Arbor (Watched MMA on it), and I punched in 48104 and Comcast and channels came up. I live in Chicago, so I didn't look at it closely to see that it said it was not available in Ann Arbor on Comcast and it was giving the channels for the other providers, that I didn't select.
November 26th, 2010 at 10:05 AM ^
The guy above who says it's on 382 is right. I see it listed in my guide. But when I searched it came up as no go. I wonder if it doesn't recognize all zips as Ann Arbor or something. But according to my actual Comcast guide listings on the screen, it's there, even if the finder says it isn't.

Thanks, shirtless. Not on Time Warner in NYC. Why doesn't BTN carry this on an overflow channel. Do they have those only for football.
November 26th, 2010 at 10:23 AM ^
You might want to browse through your listings, as M-Wolverins said, the channel may still be available even if teh Channel Locator says you don't get it. Who knows when that part of the update was updated.

...if your cable/satellite provider offers HDNet, click this link and enter your zip code and provider.
According to HDNet, the following providers offer the channel:

is that Comcast has generally not picked up HDNet, but that it's position is starting to change. I know it's not on Comcast in Montgomery County, MD at this time.

Here's hoping 'Cuse runs a lot of man instead of the 2-3.
Links appreciated for those who can find them.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:26 PM ^
No chance. Born and raised in Cuse, and Boeheim will run the 2-3 unless a team is shooting absolutely lights out the entire game.
Even when the team is more athletic, they play zone.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:30 PM ^
Even in 2000 at the Palace when we blew that 10-point 2nd-half lead against MSU when all they were doing was shooting from distance and we were screaming 'GET OUT OF THE ZONE!'... we still stayed in the zone and watched them come back.
Good times. I'm obviously over that game.
November 26th, 2010 at 9:48 AM ^
I questioned your allegiance the first time I saw your avatar. No self respecting Michigan fan would allow his Michigan flag to be used to spell out "MSU."
:/

The last time I remember watching us play Syracuse in basketball was the day after Christmas, 1997 for the Puerto Rico Holiday Classic. Michigan won 93-61.
I'd obviously have no argument over that happening again. Though, I can't remember the last time we scored that many points in a game.
November 26th, 2010 at 10:05 AM ^
97 against Northern Michigan last year.
Or did you mean a team that fought back?
November 26th, 2010 at 10:08 AM ^
You must have blocked out the revenge game the next year.
Syracuse 58, Michigan 46 (I remember this because it was the same year as the McNabb-ocaust at Michigan Stadium)
November 26th, 2010 at 10:08 AM ^
Hasn't played well to start the season? Then you haven't watched any of Michigan's games. Michigan has played EXTREMELY well to start the season, thanks in large part to the terrible teams they've played.
November 26th, 2010 at 10:12 AM ^
p.s. I mean Syracuse.
November 26th, 2010 at 10:17 AM ^
Now that I agree with. Most of the time, when people round these parts say "we" they mean Michigan. It's hard to make a shift.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:07 PM ^
Yeah, I mean, I figured Fab Melo was just an awesome nickname for Evan Smotrycz.
November 26th, 2010 at 11:12 AM ^
I'm spoiled, I am going to miss the game this evening, but I just figured the awesome one, Boys n da Pahokee, will bail me out:)
Trying to be symbolic tonight, gonna take my daughter to see the Nutcracker, segueing into crakin' on some bucknuts tomorrow.
Go Blue.
November 26th, 2010 at 12:02 PM ^
As an avid, and over-optimistic Michigan fan, it is my duty to announce that we are going to get killed by Syracuse. Yes, being killed is optimism.
November 26th, 2010 at 3:13 PM ^
I actually have a good feeling about this game. Michigan has played (and more importantly, shot the ball) really well to start the season. Granted, the competition hasn't been that great but Syracuse hasn't really played anyboyd either. Detroit Mercy hung with them for the entire game & they only beat William & Mary by 3. Not saying Michigan will definitely win (their inexperience scares me) but I think we'll at least keep it close.
November 26th, 2010 at 7:46 PM ^
I think we need a new link.
November 26th, 2010 at 7:48 PM ^
For some reason I thought Michigan was guaranteed to play Syracuse and Georgia Tech. Am I wrong? If this is a tournament who is the other team in it.
November 26th, 2010 at 8:01 PM ^
Legends Classic tourament. Georgia Tech beat UTEP in the first semifinal, so if Michigan beats Syracuse they play GA Tech for the championship. If they lose, they play UTEP in the consolation game.
November 27th, 2010 at 12:51 AM ^
Outside shots didn't fall in the 2nd half, but would you expect it any other way (*le sigh*)?
It's hard to win when you're shooting only around 33% from the floor, and yet the Orange only won by 3. I had this one as a probable loss before the season, so not a huge shocker, and it only reaffirms my thinking that we upset a couple teams this year (please, please, please be MSU).
November 27th, 2010 at 1:26 AM ^
only lost by 3, gives me some hope this season, if we can get some interior play
