11 Warriors Melting Down
When hasn't this board been in a meltdown?????
2012? Maybe early 2013 (basketball season)
I'm sure it's quite the train wreck, but I think I'll pass.
MGoBlog is melting down!
Six. Hate to point out your mistake.
Throw in Akron and UCONN and call it 8 times.
To quote Hawk Harrelson: "He gone."
There is also quite a bit of Corey Brown hate. Disgusting, really.
These threads are the worst.
This is glorious
it looks more like a bitch slap than a punch.
Possibly the best LSUfreek gif ever
You must have missed the Urban punching a Clemson player one in the posbang thread then. Both are great though.
lol his pants blowing back around his ankles is the best
And don't forget his hands and facial expression. Pure gold.
LSU Freek's hatred for Saban rivals the MGoCommunity.
How have I not seen this one before?
Is there somewhere you can see all of LSUFreeks masterpieces?
Best GIFs of 2014 pile. I can't stop watching it! Saban's face after he gets cold cocked is hilarious. Well done!
We went 7-6 and lost to their team, I'm not gonna laugh at them for losing in a BCS bowl when we got embarrassed in the SHITTY BUFFALO WINGS COPPER BOWL
That said, I'm glad to watch Urban lose
Yeah, me neither. That seems incredibushleague. How 'bout we climb all the way to .500 in the B10 before engaging in that sort of thing?
I hate Ohio, but shit we just got our asses handed to us in a bowl no one will remember the name of in 3 years. They lost a close game in a BCS bowl.
Yeah, and BWW wouldn't even make it a priority to air in their restaurants.
I heard that all BWW's were airing the UFC fight on the main tv's with sound, and a tiny Gameboy sized screen with no sound in the corner was playing the Michigan game.
Given our showing, we should probably thank them for that.
You have something better to do right now?
What if he roles were reversed...hey look at sad Urban at the presser
That's pure comedy.
But laughing at the team for losing a BCS game when we lost to the same team then lost in the Chicken Bowl is stupid and very STAEE like
Look, yes we were bad, but they played a sisters-of-the-poor schedule for two years and have only their 12-0 rings from last year to show for it...I know they won more than us, but am I the only one who thinks this is f$cking funny?
Sad Urban is very enjoyable.
But, like everyone else says, it's not like I'm crowing about it.
Oh, I call bullshit, yes you do!
what would happen if the roles were reversed? You have to stop living by the lowest common denominator rule.
were reversed, there wouldn't be many Ohio state fans. I know many Ohio state fans that followed other teams during the Cooper years. Stores sold Michigan apparel on high street across campus in Columbus. Here in FL I rarely saw people wearing Ohio state apparel. They had good teams and good records during those years, imagine if they had gone through records the UM fan base have experienced during the RR years and the past two.
I wasn't questioning for a second that OSU fans would get joy from our losses. My point was "so what?". They may well be the lowest common denominator. Why would we want to act like they do?
You don't have the nerve? I do. All day, every day. I'll mock them out loud, in writing, and in sign language if I knew it.
You don't have to know sign language. Just do it in South Africa, you'll be A-OK.
*sigh*... I'm told there were days when Michigan's OSU schadenfruede came as a result of us beating them. Must have been good times...
They had Won the game we wouldn't hear the end of it.
We didn't go into this season predicting 14-0 and a national championship. And we don't lose two thirds of our starters next year and have to rebuild. I'm not saying we enjoyed our season more than they did but it is nice to see our rivals dreams crushed regardless of how it turned out for us.
Nobody is saying that their loss somehow makes our season better than theirs, but you do have to love that Urban started his OSU career 24-0 and has ZERO conference championships, ZERO national championship game appearances, and ZERO bowl wins. Wouldn't it be spetacular if this turns out to be the pinnacle of Urban's OSU career, and he never again goes undefeated in the regular season?
I wonder if Al Borges watched the game. I think Heiko was Clemsons offensive coordinator with all those bubble screens to Watkins.
That loss was on the Ohio state defense inability to tackle.... or see the ball carrier in the first half and Urban Meyer for playing an obviously hurt Braxton Miller.
Gameplanning against Ohio was not Borges's problem this season.
it was mainly meant as a shot at Borges for giving Heiko crap about WR screens in just about every press conference
You thought Borges was giving Heiko shit? I thought it was the other way around this whole time.
which hasn't exactly been the norm around here lately.
The relationship between Heiko and Borges has been the highlight of the main page these last two years, and I'm going to miss it.
I thought that Urban Meyer was going to win the national title this year. What happened?
There's a growing number of them who want Braxton Miller to go pro, because he's an athlete who can't throw. Maybe they're so angry they forgot the next quarterback up is Cardale Jones.
noted student-athlete Cardale Jones.
While he didn't go there to play school he's not exactly exceptional at football, either.
Just the fact that none of them can breathe for a second and think about that makes me laugh.
It would be one thing if Guiton was back...I wouldn't agree, but I could understand. Instead they're talking about a guy who can't throw 1/2 as good as Miller can.
Plus he is very nifty in the open field, and bails the Ohio offense out a LOT.
I hate Ohio and would love to see him enter the draft.
But you can't laugh at them, remember?
Regardless of what Ohio fans want, given that he has 1) a child to support, 2) a history of minor injuries and 3) a totally new OL to play behind next year if he stays, I don't think we'll see him again in the college ranks.
He is going to get early enrollment for his 2017 verbal commitment. Its not like anyone will know. He doesn't have to go to class. The only reason they are there is to play football.
Do you think they stopped making fun of our losses when they had Cooper?
I was in Ohio for that and the answer is no.
Still had something to saw when Michigan lost the Rose Bowls.
UFM to Cooper already. "Hasn't done SH%T" as a Buckeye yet!" They also are suggesting the entire O and D staff be fired.
like Tressel did.
as hard as it is to believe, there are some people who really don't give a rats ass about cheating. the only people who care about UMs sanctions are people on this board when they're arguing about RR, outside of that nobody ever thinks about it, and the same can be said about OSU. you people think that outside of the OSU and UM fan base everyone has a negative opinion about OSU because they were under sanctions, but it's really because they are big dbags
What are the chances he does go?
I read somewhere that he was seriously thinking about it.
Cleveland Plain Dealer says it's likely.
I think I read somewhere he has a son and the NFL would offer a pretty good income for an athlete of his quality.
24-2 with zero top-15 wins, zero conference titles, zero bowl wins, zero national titles.
At least they have those SWEET 12-0 bowl ban shirtz.
And ringz, bro!
I'd be pretty happy if Hoke had that stat line for the past couple of years.
I would take 24-2 with no bowl wins or titles in a two-year span...and oh by the way, he is still 2-0 against M.
You sure your name isn't Spockeye?
How long before there is a such thing as fireurbanmeyer.com???
just isn't an NFL qb. He's just not.
But he could be an NFL RB, IMO.
so he may go for the pay day to support his family. I think he is better than Pryor, who is collecting nice checks each week. I can't stand OSU fans but respect the effort Miller put forth tonight. He has no receivers and has to score 40+ points vs decent teams because their secondary was awful. Urban should have played Guiton more... and also used his timeouts.
If any OSU fans bitch about Miller, next year should be interesting without him.
But the offense relies heavily on the run/veer. He has decent arm strength but cannot read a defense and has no accuracy on intermediate routes. That being said to be 24-2 over last 2 years? That's damn good.
He has no accuracy on long passes either, but Ohio seems to get guys wide open quite often and they sit and wait for under thrown balls or he overthrows them.
I wouldn't say they have no receivers. Their passing game looked great when Guiton played earlier this season. Miller just isn't that good at reading defenses. He was 6-15 against us.
Yeah, the clock management at the end seemed poor.
Miller is not as good as Pryor. We'll compare Pryor's junior year to Millers
Miller had these stats this year: 1860 yards, 63% completion, 8 YPA , 24 tds, 7 int, QBR 157.
Pryor had these his junior year: 2772 yards, 65% completion, 8.6 YPA, 27 tds, 11 int, QBR 158
Miller did have better rushing stats by 300 yards in comparison. But the NFL isn't looking at who has better rushing stats, especially not when one guy threw for 1000 more yards at a better completion percentage and YPA. So Miller isn't far off of Pryor, but he's not even as good as Pryor and most believe he shouldn't have been taken before the 4th round.
This is not even getting into the fact that he can't throw a deep ball.
Miller did miss games this season though.
Mi always personally felt that Kenny G was the better option for ohio. He never had quite the athleticism or big play ability of miller but the guy took less sacks an seemed to make smarter decisions with the ball. If tressell was still there Kenny G would have been an ideal conservative qb for his style. Very underutilized IMO.
Understandable but that doesn't change the fact that he can't throw the deep ball, he has bad decision making skills, and he is just not a very good passer at all. It doesn't take much to watch him play and see that he's just not NFL material as a QB. If he had played in more games, his accuracy probably would have went down if anything.
If you look at what he had around him, especially at receiver, Miller was at least as good a college QB (Miller was injured too so he didn't play as much). My point was if Pryor is playing weekly albeit on a crappy NFL team, MIller has to think he has a legit shot to make some good cash for his family. Whether he is another NFL Denard is totally a fair question but I've come to the conclusion that even the draft experts get it wrong when it comes to NFL QB success.
Pryor did lose his job to Matt McGloin, though. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
I don't see the Denard comparison at all--in fact I can hardly think of an athlete that reminds me less of Miller. Completely different body types and skill sets.
Look at any mock draft. They all have the Raiders taking a QB in the top 10. Why? Because Pryor isn't good enough. People also agree he shouldn't have been taken in the 3rd round. With them all knowing that, I highly doubt they take Braxton higher than the 3rd round. I'd bet on the 4th if he goes this year.
I don't care if we're 0-12. Does it really matter if we make fun of them or not? They are Ohio and we are in the greatest rivalry in sports. I'm going to take every chance I can get to make fun of them.
Not just that - they all have thought for the past two years that they're the best team in the country, and that they would take care of Alabama easily (when Alabama was undefeated and thought to be going to the Nat'l Championship). They've lost two, and almost three, in a row, and they're incredulous. A team like that deserves some grief. A lot of grief.
just say the same thing about 10 posts up? I get it--you get schadenfreude from OSU's losses. Seems a tad shallow to me.
I just scanned through it. Wonderful stuff.
This on Braxton Miller:
"Well it depends on what you mean by "get much better". If you are evaluating his abilities now vs when he was a baby, then yes. If you compare his ability now vs his sophomore year, no, because he still sucks. Can't teach smart." Really? I'll bet he would've been the greatest QB in Buckeye history had they scored on that last drive.
"If Meyer will make no one accountable for this defense, then he is accountable." First sign of trouble?
Does this sound familiar to anybody around here? To think a month they were all shouting "24-0" and everything was wonderful. Now this:
I will pose a question to the board. What will it take to change the attitude and culture of this defense? Is it just about players or does it start with coaching?
It seems like there is good talent out there, but the performance has been lacking, especially over the last 4-5 games. I don't get it??
Welcome back to reality Buckaroos!
I am too lazy and too bad with Komputerz, but this is what I meant when I started this thread.
So next year they might lose Hyde, Miller, and their entire offensive line? Does Corey Brown leave too?
Brown is a senior.
Negging you doesn't matter though. Negging the OP doesn't hurt their points total, but it does cost the person who negs you a point. So that seems pointless. Anyways, I'm sure there is a lot of melt down over at 11 Warriors. How long until Urban leaves OSU for health issues? Probably after a few years of MSU winning the new division and then Michigan becoming a strong team again.
I don't think Urban can stand losing at all. Finishing second or third multiple times in one division of a "mediocre" football conference? I think his health issues would come back really fast.
...and it doesn't provide the same opportunities for "health issues" that Florida does.
Where there is D1 football, there are hot grad assistants. Columbus included. Urbz can still get his and call it a health issue.
Top-15 wins in 2013
They still beat us.
We haven't lost this year though!
Spock, for the love of Romulus, or Romulan, or whatever, please stop with all the Debbie Downer stuff. This is a night for celebration and shadenfreude.
I don't want to wait for my life to be over, I will up vote you forever!
So have a lot of teams. The novelty has worn off.
I'm completely surprised that somebody actually did neg you for starting this thread
and decided to go check out Eleven Warriors for shits & giggles. And believe it or not, their fanbase is also insane just like ours when it comes to play calling, coordinators, etc. Check out this gem, copy & pasted:
Where in the fucking hell was Guiton? What a blunder by Meyer. Miller can't even see straight and the Defense gives us a shot at the end, and that is what Herman and Meyer give us? A FUCKING 5th YEAR SENIOR Fresh legs and all sitting on the bench? Guiton is, by far, the most screwed college player of all time.
I wouldn't let Fickel even stay at the hotel. SEE the handling of Kiffin by USC...NO ADJUSTMENTS at ALL, esp against the sideline pass. That is all coaching. Period
Anyone can beat the wuss teams on our schedule. Show me a signature win by meyer during the past two years. Lost to a good MSU team, but not great...(Don't fucking kid yourself - Stanford isn't that good). Lost to a mediocre Clemson team that got there ass handed to them by FSU and South Carolina this year.
O how the mighty have fallen.
would beat KSU by 20.
Just another B1G loss, bad for the conference.
But at least they showed up for their bowl and made it competitive, unlike a certain team that we all know and love.
They sucked. Should've lost by 19.
But at least they showed up for their bowl and made it competitive, unlike a certain team that we all know and love.
I bet they wouldn't have kept it close if they were playing a frosh QB, either.
"But at least they showed up for their bowl"
Did you even watch this game? Arguably only about three or four Ohio players "showed up". Everything about this game being close was due to Clemson almost giving this game away.
Braxton looked like Devin. Strong and athletic and brave while getting crushed all day. Mixed in with some very bad decisions. Clemson kept this from being a blow out with stupidity.
Because being torched by a great WR while starting a true frosh QB in his first game is giving up? Just stop.
oh please. do you even know how many bowl games Bo lost? and that was during the Big-Ten's glory decades. it didn't have one iota of effect on the relevance of the Big-Ten conference then, and it doesn't now. the only bowl game anyone gives a crap about who won, or loss next season is the NCG.
Bo losing bowl games we were favored to win almost always resulted in suggestions that the Big Ten was over rated.
Between Braxton Miller and Urban Meyer, Bradley Roby seems to be getting the most hate on twitter because some Buckeye writer tweeted during the game that Bradley Roby quit on this team by not playing.
The fact that people tweeting at me sayin all this negativity is crazy to me. It makes me ashamed to even have played for y'all
— Bradley Roby (@BradRoby_1) January 4, 2014
some of the Ohio fanbase believes he didn't want to get torched by Sammy and lose more draft stock, so he wussed out and didn't play. Does it have wings?
To be fair, he did already make it known he wishes he hadn't come back for this year
Ohio loses to another Southern team...what a regional power they are lol.
You guys thought our OL play was bad. Ohio State has 4 seniors starting on that line. And Miller got killed all season.
...and Carlos Hyde had 111+ yards in 9 out of his 11 games. And averaged 7.3 yards per carry.
an NFL team would give Miller a shot at RB as a 3rd down back or maybe slot receiver. That guy is just not an NFL QB.
That sounds familiar...
We really don't have a leg to stand on, considering our record. However I think maybe we can say that we exposed thier defense for MSU and Clemson to take advantage of... and it is always nice to see Ohio lose, no matter the circumstance.
No secret OSU played a fairly weak schedule, so I had doubt that they would beat Clemson. Oddly, the OSU defense sucked at the season's end when it mattered most. I'm happy they lost, but I will be happier when we get our own shit together.
Did anyone notice what play Clemson called to go ahead late in the game, on third down? Yep, a throwback screen. You think they studied film of The Game?
and Smith go elsewhere. And Please let it be here. They may start a "Fire Urban" campaign.
I know it's doubtful but it has been a great 2014 so far.
along with Hyde. Miller says he doesn't like to get hit so much. After winning two B1G MVPs don't think he will stay around. If the fan base is pissed after going 24 -2, next year will be popcorn time, with new faces starting and a tougher schedule.
That being said, there are calls for Luke Fickell to be fired. Eleven Warriors is blaming it on the injury to Roby and the Spense suspension. They should be reminded that Michigan almost beat them with a one legged quarterback and their placekicker injured.
Which coordinator keeps his job going into next year- Fickell or Borgess? I'm guessing Borgess.
And that says oh so much about the state of the two programs......
I don't really understand where this and the comment below it are coming from. They were pretty good this year. They'll be right around 12 in the final poll, which I think is fair.
To your point about the final 3 games. PSU and Iowa both beat us this year, and I wouldn't like our chances against Wisconsin. All games were at OSU, but they won by 10, 39 and 7, respectively.
the national media and coaches that vote in the polls get some perspective on this team, see them for what they really are and stop giving them an extra 3-7 spots in the polls.
I don't understand. What they really are? 24-2 the last two years. Shit.
Certain teams also get the benefit of being traditionally good because in college football past success very much correlates with the future. Michigan also benefits, as does ND, USC, etc. Yet, in OSU's case, there is much more reason to do so.
after the B1G play starts. At least not the last few years. The polls seem to find their level. OSU has lost both games to the only good teams that they played. They had a 2 year cake walk that caught up to them. I remember when UFM was hired and the consensus at 11 Warriors was 2 national titles within 5 years. He has his work cut out for him needing 2 in the next 3 while breaking in a new quarterback.
Haha! Yes! They finished 12-2! They suck! Hahahahahahaha!
/Remembers M finished 7-6 with a Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl loss. /Remembers the botched two-point conversion. /Remembers MSU winning the Rose Bowl.
Back to being depressed, rageaholic, fire-everyone Michigan fan!
This loss is on the muffed punt and very poor Defense for Ohio. And they could have been blown out if Clemson did make such big batch of moronic plays/ penalties. Was Dantonio a good coach at 7-6 with a thin young inexperienced porous line last year?
Did Borges call Stanfords last two plays of the Rose Bowl?
I think he called much of the second half.
Credit is due to someone on the tigerdroppings.com
After the year we just had? And I mean both our football team and our forum.
Ohio lost. We can rejoice in that regardless of our circumstances
Some of us look at the young talent on this team and think we will be improved next year and much better in 2 years. Of course we would have liked to win this year. It didn't happen. We can still be happy when our biggest rival loses. I still support Michigan.
I'm not certain we have all the right coaches, but I am certain Brady Hoke deserves time to let the athletes he recruited develop using the coaches he believes in and yes I do think they are developing.
A reasonable voice? Who & where do you think you are?!
(I agree exactly with every part of your reasonable post, sir. Well said!)
Anyone who can't revel in Ohio misery doesn't get being a Michigan fan.
Because a true Michigan fan has accepted that we're relegated to enjoying Ohio State's failures on the national stage while we laugh and wish we could even make it to the national stage ourselves?
Look on the bright side Gordon. I'm sure if OSU had won we'd have somebody post an "OSU appreciation" thread 30 seconds later. I'm just thankful I didnt have to see that.
I suspect the appreciation thread wouldn't have popped up, but Lord would there have been a bunch of "Meyer is taking over" and "why do we suck!" threads had Clemson not held on.
Gordon Berenson hasn't had too much trouble with OSU.
What a glorious game! Although Braxton played like a G. B10 didn't fair well in bowl play.
playing in the B1G conference. But once outside conference play, I would rather see them win. It only enhances B1G teams.
just didn't get it done. On the other hand, I couldn't understand the hoopla surrounding the Buckeyes and getting into the NC game had they beaten MSU, the best defensive team in the country, even without their starting MLB in the Rose Bowl. We'll see Monday night about FSU, which is the real deal on both sides of the ball.
The fact is, there is no regional difference in game, except speed in the trenches. There are great athletes at every level of CFB in every conference. So, I don't buy that one conference is better than others, especially when you consider that SEC power is concentrated in two states, Alabama and Louisiana. You could say the same about every region and conference power base.
Oklahoma rolls the Tide and its fans claim the team wasn't interested in winning the Sugar Bowl because it lost its title shot to Auburn.
The game is about passion and will, chemistry and execution. And the team that best executes under pressure wins.
I don't think you can make the argument that all conferences are equal when the SEC has won 7 straight national titles
Yes, the SEC's top couple teams have been very good. However, Missouri and Texas A&M showing up from the Big 12 and crashing the ranks probably proves they are not as dominant top-to-bottom as some people would like you to think.
Er, sucked this year, but ohio hasn't played but two ranked teams in the last two years, and lost to them both. They deserve all the crap they get for their pussy schedule.
So, meltdowns can sometimes be kind of funny when they are somewhat internal. It is the personal crap that crosses the line, especially with Twitter, or worse, Facebook.
- Don't EVER have personal contact with a player Michigan is recruiting, or for that matter, ANY player. Twitter, Facebook, emails, letters, JUST DON'T DO IT. Obviously, if you are the same age, and go to the same high school, or have the same set of friends, the rules change a little bit. But not a lot. My 20 year old doesn't randomly contact other 20 year olds, and doesn't like being contacted by unknown other 20 year olds.
- Don't EVER put something disparaging and insulting about recruits or players on the board. They read the board, or their friends or parents do. When you are a jerk, it will come back to haunt you.
- Avoid putting really insulting stuff about other posters, even fans of other schools, up on the board. I guess when other people have put stupid stuff up, they deserve to be publicly mocked in a schadenfruede sort of way.
- Some of the "fire Borges, fire Hoke, fire Jackson, fire Funk, Brandon sucks" stuff really veers into the personal in an uncomfortable way. It is true that they're adults, and they get paid enough and are mature enough to deal with it. But man, I've been tempted to catalogue some of the way over the top negativity from some of you for next year, in order to see some of y'all eat crow when Michigan improves a lot in the coming season.
Does this mean I get to catalog this post in case they continue to not improve, have no chemistry, and play terribly, you know just to make people who were irrationally optimistic eat their crow.
In other words I was totally with you until the last bullet.
when we have no accomplishments of our own to celebrate.
For myself, I don't usually revel in OSU losses except when they play us, and would consider a 1-win season with a win over them to be something other than the nadir of our program. To that end, if we were to taunt OSU, the only comeback they'd need is "at least a thousand days will pass before we lose to you" ...
Can someone make a good OSU joke involving Noah Spence and them rolling through weak teams enroute to 12-0 and first part of this year?
