10 year-anniversary of "Miracle at the Metrodome"
Hoping to spark some friendly conversation reflecting on the incredible comeback in 2003 at Minnesota. Chris Perry, Braylon Edwards, John Navarre and Marion Barber, this game was a classic.
Thanks to WolverineHistorian for the video. I remember myself capitulating to Minnesota (out loud) several times that afternoon...

room in Ironwood, Michigan. I was tired cranky and ready to go to bed after a long drive. At halftime I was going to shut it off but I told myself I didn't want to miss a great comeback and really couldn't believe what was happening in the 4th Q.
Very memorable.

I remember watching it on the couch, and my wife came in to see what the score was. I think it was 28-7 and she asked if I was going to keep watching it. I said 'Yes', mainly because I was in shock at seeing UM get manhandled by Minnesota. Unbelievable comeback. Then Navarre TD is what most people remember, but the int returned for a TD was huge (can't remember who it was right now). Someone mentioned UM had lost to Iowa the week before - I'm pretty sure that was the game where UM went to that stupid punt formation in the middle of the game and ended up getting one blocked.

I remember distinctly bailing on this one to go upstairs to where my internet connection was to bitch about this one online for a while, and having to run right back downstairs because the comeback was on.
Viva the Buffalo Stampede.

This game would have had an EPIC live thread to go with it.

Thanks for this! I'll never forget this comeback. 2 seasons in a row where they were undefeated and we took them down.

Only to be followed by our defense handing them the game when they were obviously playing for overtime, and then letting them plant their stupid flag at the 50.
Remember when 7-4 and then getting jobbed in a crappy bowl game was considered the worst it could get?

Ah yes...and I was at that game too. Those were the days.

Have we had a QB since that could see and make that little toss at the :55 second mark? Of course, Devin would just run for it (correctly). The caverns that were opening up in the middle on pass plays were hilarious.
Also, not this game, of course, I can't think about Navarre vs. Minny without thinking about the Transcontinental in 2003. Best Transcontinental ever.

Wasn't that our first touchdown in this same game?

The cat who just ate the canary. He knew he stole one there.

Was Glen Mason's after Michigan scored the TD to make it 21-28. You could just see the resignation on his face. Then Minny scored again and you could see a glimmer of hope that was finally dashed. Classic.

The team was getting absolute killed everywhere after the loss to Iowa, media, radio, on the street. And I spent all week telling everyone that we were going to win all the rest of our games and go to the Rose Bowl, all Bo style. I might have even called into WTKA to Fithian with my once every 3 years call. They just seemed like they had the most and had screwed things up. Even bought a cake for celebration after the viewing of the game. (No writing or anything, just a Bill Knapps cake).
Well, by halftime we were breaking into the cake, because why have an upset stomach for eating it at midnight if we weren't even going to win? Maybe the cake was magic, but more likely they just had it in them to find a way to come back from the biggest deficit ever for Michigan, and then proceeded to win the rest of their games to get to the Rose Bowl.

The way that the Gophers defended the screen play in the second half, you'd think that Michigan had just invented the play.

It was a miserable first half, but most of the Minny Fans were very classy and happy. One drunk provoked me enough to for me to get in his face. I figured, if I ever got thrown out of this game, it wouldn't be all bad. Security responded to some fans plea, and they took that son of a bitch for a talk. The fans, all of them cheered. Good fans. There were many Michigan fans there. On the way, we didn't sheer or boast, just nodded to each other in acknowlegement we stole that one.
