10 men on the field for a punt return.

Submitted by Shop Smart Sho… on

Just like the title says.  At 10:45 in the 2nd, Rutgers is punting from midfield. Norfleet is deep by himself.  5 guys on the line.  2 players covering each Rutgers gunner.

1+5+2+2=10.

How in the blue fuck does this keep happening?

*****EDIT*****

Decided to look at the rest of the punts.

Next punt happens at 12:58 in the 3rd.  Michigan was set with only 10 men.  Had to run the 11th guy onto the field.

Next punt comes at 6:42 in the 4th.  They have all 11 guys on the field this time!!

So, 10 guys for 1st punt.

11 guys for second, after they noticed they were 1 short.

11 guys for third.

I guess that is progress?

...what is the point of paying Darrell Funk and Dan Ferrigno?

Seriously. You job is special teams and over and over you can't even get 11 guys out on the field.

Should've fired them both...and eased Jackson out this offseason.

He made his bed and his offense is fucking horrible. Now he should be fired for trying to be a nice guy and not a head football coach.

those guys should be fired, maybe someone else can help. You'd think Hoke would be doing anything now to save his job. Hence, the reason why we saw a little different offense last night, I'm sure we'll see more stuff like this because Hoke knows if he doesn't do something, he's going to be fired.

has pictures of everyone in power at M with either a live boy or a dead girl.....or he would have been let go long ago.

He has survived 3 (4?...was he there before Carr?) regime changes not having produced much...I don't think he had much to do with Hart's success.....he has staying power far beyond his level of contribution.

never wanted a Michigan football season to end more than this one. I wasn't a big fan of RR but I always had a feeling that MAYBE we would finally turn a corner and it could always be "Next Week" under RR, obviously it never happened but I NEVER felt like I do now. I just wish I could fast-forward this season and I could wake up in January and a Harbaugh was in control of this Program. I keep saying I'm not watching "next week" but this is like a bad accident, you don't want to look, but you do anyway. I'm just stunned.

I agree.  The RR years were rough, but it always seemed like the team was about to turn a corner and have the breakthrough.   That never happened, but it still held my attention.   I don't think Year Four of a fictional RR team would be anywhere near this bad though.   Hoke's transmission is stuck in reverse and has been for the last three seasons.  There is nothing to look forward to beyond the sweet embrace of the crypt.

If Hoke and this staff aren't going to be fired during the season, can we at least hire someone to make sure we have the right number of people on the damn field? I would suggest:

Fkkk Brandon. Seriously. Paying 4 million and cannot even field a team.... is this grounds for terminating both of them for cause? Seriously

This is all part of a new Coke promotion. The first ten fans to tweet #needonemorecoke whenever a Michigan special teams unit has only 10 players are entered to win a fabulous prize package that could include a trip to Michigans next bowl game.

How does Ferrigno still have a job? Serious question. Ordinary leadership response to heavy criticism is to fire underlings (see, for example, every NFL coach that has ever struggled) who are perceived to have screwed things up. Hoke firing Ferrigno and replacing him with some special teams coach poached from a place with famously good special teams (like, I don't know, Rutgers) would give him the appearance of making positive changes. And might in fact even BE a positive change.

Obviously the medical staff took an injured player out of the game and failed to properly substitute that player. As we should all know, Brady Hoke does not have ultimate authority for who plays, when they play, or how much they play. Now if we could just get the medical staff to start calling the right plays.

and wished things had worked out.  Still can't figure out what exactly what wrong- he has great coordinators, recruited well, nothing but support from the university and athletic department.  But- this team is bad at everything.  Bad at blocking.  Bad at getting off blocks.  Bad at tackling.  Bad at breaking tackles.  Bad ballcarrier vision. Poor QB mechanics.  This team is not good.  But having 10 men out there is 100% coaching and there is no excuse.  I have been hanging by fingernails wanting to stay behind Hoke, but he cannot be the guy to lead Michigan back...we need a whole new staff here.  Great men, but not getting it done.  Michigan deserves better
