#10 Field Hockey pulls off comeback to beat PSU in B1G Tourney Semis

Another game in the B1G Tournament, another thrilling OT win for Michigan.

But it wasn't easy. At all.

2 seed Michigan (17-3) trailed 6 seed Penn State (9-10) 1-0 after PSU scored on a corner in the 2nd half.

PSU seemed to have it won as the clock ticked and ticked away and Michigan came so close to scoring on multiple chances. But then a massive break.

A PSU player made one of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen in a tight game--after a whistle when a scuffle for the ball took place and a Wolverine and Nittany Lion were on the ground, she decided to shove the Wolverine that was getting up.

This resulted in a red card which was an ejection and would also result in a suspension for PSU's next game if they won tonight.

Shortly after that where Michigan went up a man due to the red card, Marcia Pankratz pulled Sam Swenson and Michigan had a two-man advantage. The Wolverines scored on a Leah Cardarelli tip in with just 0:55 left to play to tie the game at 1-1.

The game headed to OT, and shortly into the period, Katie Trombetta tipped in a shot by Emma Way (who scored the GW goal yesterday) to give Michigan the 2-1 OT comeback victory.

2 Michigan advances to the B1G Tournament Championship on Sunday at Noon on BTN to face 1 Maryland (18-3) in the rematch that we have all been waiting for.

MD was the last team to beat Michigan and they did so on a controversial goal that probably wouldn't have counted if the game wasn't in College Park. That loss ultimately cost Michigan the B1G Regular Season Championship as it was the only one in conference play.

None of that matters on Sunday. Both teams have won each of their tournament games by 1 goal and both won in OT today to advance to the championship.

Did anyone see the women's soccer game against PSU?  It was pathetic.  We had five backs, and we literally passed it around in our defensive third the whole time I watched (about the last 15 minutes of the first half).
