I fail to see the allure of PSU for elite QBs, but I'll try: come to PSU where you can put up shaky numbers while regularly getting mauled behind a nonexistent offensive line and still get drafted #1 overall!

He's from Indiana so I get his interest in Notre Dame.  Tennesee?  Who knows, could just be an SEC fling thing. Or cash.

But I don't get Penn State.  Doesn't he know that O'Brien is long gone?  It's hard to look at Hack and say "Yeah! I want that to be me!"

Harbaugh, save this man from his confusion.

"'Tis a joke son, at Tennessee's expense (not Johnson's).  It's a /s.  I'll mind my manners next time. "

Please don't mind your manners.  Just ignore the dullards.  I thought your line was perfect, and it was clearly intended to be humor.  Some people are just such literalists that they can't get hmor that isn't so broad no one could miss it.  Don't write for them, write for the rest of us.

"I don't really think that the whole SEC pays cash to get recruits.

Just half of them."

Boom goes the dynamite!

Exactly. As much as Michigan fans don't want to admit it, we're very similar to PSU and Tennessee right now. Former national powers who have been mediocre at best in recent years.

I don't get why people are confused that he might want to play for Penn State or Tennessee. Both are historically great schools with tradition but haven't been good recently and a coach who has the fan bases optimistic. Just like Michigan.

If you look at his record, he has maybe one really impressive win at Vandy, beating #15 ranked Georgia at home. His only top-25 win, if I'm not mistaken. Making Vanderbilt decent, which he did, is not something to sniff at. But Franklin is far from the worldbeater he's made out to be. Looking at his last season as OC under Friedgen, his offense didn't seem to score much against any of the non-tomato can teams they played. I'd take Jerry Kill over Franklin, even if I didn't factor in the latter's Douchebag Multiplier, which is substantial.

I am sure a lot of it has to do with the receivers he is playing with. How many of those 104 incompletions were drops? I doubt he's playing with top division 1 talent. But I haven't watched his tape, so I don't know. I stayed at a holiday inn express last night, so that makes me an expert
