I am stupider for having read that.

I am not sure which was worse, the racial code words--Manning is 'clean cut' but Woodson is 'brash'--or the weird, weird, WEIRD man-love for Weurffel.

Good grief.

1.  At best, we're even.  Their rollover against Nebraska more than makes up for it.  As we say in our household, "Who are we rooting for?  See the orange team.  We don't like them.  They played like dogs."

2.  Manning was 14th in passing efficiency and 6th in total yards/game that year.  Ryan Leaf creams him in both categories.  http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/football_records/archive/fbs/1997ind.pdf

Let's point at Volunteer fans who still think sportswriters that suddenly grow collectively bored with white quarterbacks is more plausible than Charles Woodson being better at football than Peyton Manning in 1997.

"Woodson's brash demeanor, suitable for a player trying to overcompensate for his inability to affect the outcome of a football game the way the leading passer in SEC history could"

Haha so much bitterness.  That kick return he had definitely had NO affect on an outcome of a football game.

They outed themselves as not having watching Woodson play at all the entire season. If they did and still wrote this, then they redefine stupidity.
