if we lose all that we've worked for by just letting the program stagnate. right now we're the clear cut, best team in MCLA lacrosse and we risk losing our coach and probably some future success if it doesn't continue to grow. I feel like from a preservation standpoint, that it would be worth it to move up men's and women's lacrosse to varsity to keep them growing. I think that men's lacrosse could fit in, popularity-wise, right around michigan baseball or possibly even better so maybe it could become profitable in the future.

at the very least, of all athletic departments in the country, we are certainly one of the few who can afford to take a $250k/year loss on a sport

is it will put a financial strain on the athletic budget.  Michigan is going to build a new practice facility for both basketball teams and most likely renovate Crisler Arena or build a new basketball arena since it's a dump(one of the worst in the Big Ten IMO).

They will have to hold off adding sports until the projects are all done.

Kind of a muddled argument.  First it says it's because of Title IX, then at the end casually mentions that Lacrosse wouldn't be a positive-revenue sport.  I'd say that's at least as important a factor...probably more, when you consider that Michigan maintains a smaller portfolio of varsity teams than other B10 schools.

Anyway, i don't get the Title IX complaint.  If they add a men's team they can add a women's team too.  It's one thing to say Title IX is to blame for a team getting cut, but for new teams there's no reason not to add one for each gender.
