Commencement band could be the only time that thousands of college grads get to hear the complete, un-edited renditions of their school pride songs, rather than at the athletic events for which they were originally intended. At Michigan, only music majors are allowed to play in commencement exercises, and oddly enough, the School of Music graduation ceremony does not get its own commencement band (only Business, Engineering, and General Commencement at the Big House).
