1. Heavy numbers at RB (7 remaining on roster for 2012 assuming no attrition).

2. Coaches prefer elite talent like Dunn, Marshall, etc.  On next tier, coaches perfer Greg Garmon.

3.  Overall available scholarship numbers are tight so coaches would rather risk losing Mahone than not having the space to potentially take an elite guy that they prefer.

4.  Can always offer him during Senior season and try to pull him away from PSU then.
