It's already having a big effect on Milan, which is in the best financial shape of any in Italy but loses tens of million of Euro every year.. It will also affect many other teams in Europe.  Yesterday Milan reported selling two of their biggest and most popular players to save about $180 million over the next two years. No surprise after seeing what their (our) financial condition is and what it needs to be to continue to play in the Champions League where big money is made.  BTW--read that article when it was first posted.  Swiss Ramble is one of my "go to" websites on soccer football.

I will believe in Financial Fair Play when there is a legitimate salary cap created across UEFA. The money controlled by the oil sheiks who own the likes of City and PSG compared to guys like Berlusconi is like comparing the amount of money I control to the amount controlled by Berlusconi. Football has entered unchartered waters with owners who literally control the capital of entire countries.

I was surprised to see how little revenue the Italian giants create. Especially when the two Milan clubs could combine for a stadium expansion. They illustrated the point very well, but they could've been thorough enough with about 468 fewer paragraphs and charts. They also don't take into account all the spending Italian clubs lose in fixing matches every year, surely a large part of their annual revenue. I have no doubt we'll be hearing all about calciopolli '13 shortly.
