I wish him luck in pursuing his dreams, but UFA's in baseball are usually signed to provide "meat" to provide competition for players seen as having a chance to make it to "the show."
I would have hoped a guy who went to Pioneer and then Michigan would be able to see through this kind of stuff, and wouldn't get familial pressure. If he was good enough, one more year of college wouldn't have hurt him. I hope he got a bonus large enough to pay for enough school to graduate, and it's in a fund. Usually, though, that doesn't happen.
