Marching Band Director resigns to take job at WMU

One can hope for many things. I don't know if it's just age and experience or the trampling of my lawn by whipper snappers, but I haven't been impressed with Michigan's band recently. Not only are they hard to hear, but their lines get really wobbly when they change formations. And the dude doesn't dance at hockey games.
It could just be that I've romanticized the past, but my wife (UGa alum) hasn't been impressed during her recent years of exposure to Michigan's band either.

conductor will not dance on directive from Haithcock, sadly. Dignity!

I wonder if this means that Special K will try to force more canned music on us under the excuse that the new band director isn't comfortable yet.

but how do we know Special K hasn't already applied for the position?!

He had the job before Boerma. He was a hardass who acutally liked football, playing loudly, crisp formations, and hated, hated, hated pumped-in music.

Cosign, though I doubt it happens.

Nix is now a band director elsewhere. Unlikely that he comes back to be an assistant band director at UM.

Taylor Lewan can take over!

Hope you like subdividing lots and lots of 16th notes, WMU!

Because I can't find it on the sidebar.
I would have thought this would have gotten a lot more posts, even with all the news yesterday, but it seems invisible.
Should be somewhere here, no?

It wouldn't be MGoBlog without some good old-fashioned flaming about the Marching Band. It makes me pine for politics and religion.
