but considering Tressel a 'quality guy' will reflect poorly on Coach Hoke if all goes down poorly for Tressel and OSU; he comes off sounding like a croney or something.

Some of the coaches supporting Tressel are doing so simply because of cronyism. I suspect Bob Knight falls into this category (although I'm sure it's more complex than that).
Others may just be in denial. I mean, my first thought was that it can't be that serious. I could have easily seen Ohio State's football program getting into trouble because of some crooked booster, but I would have thought Tressel would have been isolated enough from it to avoid the heat. Clearly I was wrong. I imagine a lot of other coaches are saying to themselves that they can't believe Tressel did something like this, and therefore they don't believe it happened. I can certainly see Hoke (and pretty much every other coach in the league) in that camp.
Give it a couple of weeks, and I think a lot of the coaches who started off supporting Tressel will have stopped.

but "quality guys" don't lie to investigators, administrators, and the media about rules violations. Sweatervest has been manipulating the college football world and his ignorant fans for years, making them think he's all about integrity, honesty, being nice, and doing the right thing. The Vest has always been entirely about winning games, with everything else being a shameful facade. I hope he finally gets what's coming to him.

I don't know what his actual opinion is. He may indeed think Tressel is a "quality guy" and be forgiving of the whole sordid mess. But if he didn't I wouldn't expect anything other than coach speak.
