as the article itself.

Pretty sad that one of the reasons ID'ed for low student attendance is the inability to get a decent cellular signal.  I appreciate being able to tool around with my phone too, but can't they unplug long enough to be able to enjoy a football game, even if it is just for a crap opponent like Akron or North Texas?  Of course, I've read studies that suggest than being able to afford service for a good wireless device is more important to this generation of young adults than being able to afford the costs of driving a car.  Not just a good car...ANY car.

I feel older than I actually am having read that, and further disconnected from a generation I understand very little.

Now I am, of course, much older than the average fan on this site, but just setting around the bar, even in Mexico where I go for the winter, it astonishes me to see people, some in their forties setting at the bar, foregoing conversation with the person seated next to them and texting all night long.  WTF even go to the bar when drinking is much cheaper at home?  If you're using texting to hook-up you can do that as well from the comfort of your home as you can from a bar seat with no back rest.      ^ And also true in the SEC, I imagine there aren't a whole lot of students on the field either.

I agree that spending time on the phone at a football game seems pretty lame.  But when so much time is spent watching the redhat sell refrigerators, I also understand wanting to know what else is going on in the world cuz not much is happening in the stadium.  UMich tries to keep things interesting but 4 hours for a football game? C'mon.
