What does this mean for non-football sports; some of the best baseketball programs in the country (eg. Georgetown) are FCS.

I'd guess 'D4' would only be for football. Seems like it would be pretty hard to fill a basketball or hockey or lacrosse schedule on just the 60 FBS schools. I think this D4 is probably just going to be another subset of D1, we'll all play each other in non-football sports

The changes they are talking about implementing couldn't be done just for football because of Title IX.

Also FBS and FCS are subdivisions of D1
I can't think of any school that is D1 in one sport and D2 or D3 in others
So I dont think they'll allow todally different divisions.

Plenty of D1 basketball programs don't have D1 (FBS or FCS) football programs. I'd expect schools to be able to be in multiple divisions.

Lovely to see that along with getting out from the NCAA they've made sure to propose yet more administration positions for themselves to fill.

Big Ten Conference standings on the left column show Northern Illinois leading the conference at 2-0 (over Iowa, Purdue) and Ohio State second at 1-0 (over Wiscy).
Oh what a sense of humor they have at CBS Sports! Har, har.
