BCS title game cost Alabama nearly $2 million

1,925,000 + 1,888,461.50 = 3,813,461.5
3,9000,000 - 3,813,461.5 = $86,538.50
So, they actually lost $86,538.50. Which is before you factor in the extra money they made off of merchandising.
So, in essence, that article was full of shit.

The article was obviously written by a sports hater ignorant about P&L's. Why write about all the expenses and leave out significant chunks of revenues?
Don't they also make a substantial amount of money from the bowl games featuring other SEC teams? This is like writing an article that says cars cost the average consumer $10000 a year without factoring in the fact that cars allow people to make money by allowing them to get to work. A more accurate article would calculate how much Alabama netted last season from all bowls combined, which I would guess is 7 figures in the black.
