Wallpaper Season - Vintage Schedule Stylings

Submitted by jonvalk on

Well, it's that time again, ladies and gentlemen - it's wallpaper season. For this season's schedule wallpaper, I went with a design based on (ok, copied from) a vintage schedule card from 1969.

Original 1969 Schedule Card

I like how it turned out, but I do wish I could find an image of Harbaugh in the exact same profile as Bo from the '69 card.  If you know of one (I looked around to no avail), I would be very grateful to the person who pointed me to it.  I ended up choosing a picture that embodies how I hope to see Jim on the sidelines during our games - enjoying some Michigan domination.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy this wallpaper.  As always, I welcome constructive criticism and/or suggestions for new wallpapers. Let me know what you think.  GO BLUE!

EDIT: Fixed the font with a font more like what is in the original per numerous suggestions.  Thanks for the input, it looks a lot better, guys.

EDIT 2: Added mobile (iPhone 5) variation.

Thanks for the thoughts. I didn't attempt to copy fonts because I wanted it to be slightly different, but I could attempt a thinner font as an alternate version. As for it being cluttered, I'll look at reducing the font size a bit and see if that helps. Thanks for the photo suggestion, but I tried to go for photos of Jim that are actually him as the coach, not photoshopped. There will be a lot more available after the season for sure.

Noon starts are no more "traditional" than 3:30 starts--both are a product of television, and only date back 25 years or so.  Before weekly television broadcasts, all kickoffs were 1:00, 1:30 or 2:00.

Also note that Michigan was not on daylight saving time in 1969, so a 1:30 start in September or October is exactly like a 2:30 EDT start in terms of sun position.
