I thought I read somewhere that they can't go to another Pac-10 school, but I could be wrong.
USC Players Eligible To Transfer Scot-Free
I'm just sayin'. Two-deep players bolded.

I read some where on espn that the AD from USC will not let any of them sign on with another pac10 team more reason for some to bolt to UM
That's a Pac 10 rule, not the AD's.
They're still enrolled at USC, so what's the rules on recruiting them (if hypothetically that were to happen)? I assume you can't contact them?
Schools that are interested can initiate contact with the players/recruits.
It would be great to land one or two of these kids.
I'll take a defensive back, please.
Best guess: a few guys transfer, but any of them coming to Michigan seems doubtful. What's God telling Mr. Johnson now?
It feels like Stanley Havili has been at USC forever.
Michigan was not on the radar during the initial recruitment of some of these kids, but we might have what other major programs don't have; A suspect secondary that almost gaurantees playing time and available scholorship spots. I am not sure how other programs 85 scholy's look, but based on SEC's rampant oversigning practice, we can almost gaurantee that we wouldn't have to compete with them. Just a thought.
pretty much given USC a defacto 2 year death penalty.
If I am Seanterel and the other top dogs in the current class, I am hiring an attorney (maybe even as a group) and having him call USC's AD requesting release from my LOI. Either they give the release or I sue them for fraud and misrepresentation for not tellimg me every little detail and fact before I signed my LOI. In fact, it is highly likely the coaches seriously downplayed the potential penalties, which would make this a very easy case to win. The potential bad PR alone from a threatened lawsuit should be enough to cause USC to release the kids who want to leave and let them go wherever they want.
Of course, USC can push back and say they were unaware that the punishment was going to be so severe. It's not like the NCAA told them back in January that they're going to get a post-season ban or lose a bunch of scholarships.
Did you see Pete Carroll's pathetic response. It was beyond laughable. He was caught red handed. Everything he said was vague, unspecific and general.
To have USC's knowledge of the sanctions come out in discovery or during trial would just be adding more fuel to an already smoldering fire.
USC would be wise to let players do what they wish. Kiffin has already said he wouldn't stop any of the upperclassman who could transfer scot free from doing so.
Kiffin can't stop any of the upperclassmen from transferring. The NCAA is mandating that they allow them to transfer to any non-Pac10 school.
Very good point
We agree. Suing the NCAA/School is definitely the way to go.
Maurice Clarrett and Michael Williams
USC's general counsel would counter (correctly so) that you can't have a successful claim for fraud and misrepresentation based on an as of yet nonexistent fact. If they said they weren't under investigatIon then you'd have a claim, but you can't sue someone because they said "we think the penalties won't be that severe."
Show me another college sports blog where you will get a correct, succinct answer like this.
We could use an everydown, Slaton like back. We were close with Baxter.
I don't see any chance with players already in the system for 2 or more years. They're already committed and to leave would be to leave a culture they've grown accustomed to. Even if this means they can't play in the post-season, there's still quite a few NFL prospects on that roster. But incoming recruits and maybe last year's class would be in play.
Actually, I think only players whose eligibility would expire in two years (during which USC would be banned from the post-season) can transfer without penalty. That means anyone already in the program, but I'm not sure about the most recent class (because they haven't stepped on campus yet, at least some of them).
That said, there's a dark cloud over USC right now. Would incoming recruits be able to rescind their LOIs and commit elsewhere?
I'd be especially surprised if any of the seniors left--just doesn't seem worth it at all. They'd have to move, leave their friends and groupies, and the team they've identified themselves with all for what? To move to a new program in the middle of the summer, not knowing anyone, not being familiar with the system, and then have to fight to get up to speed and for a spot on the two deep. Doesn't seem worth it just to play in a bowl game. Might not even be a great move for the juniors unless they're not expected to start at USC and think they can start at another school.
That said I'd love to bring in an LB (or two) and a DB (or two). Here's to hoping.
I can't see us having a chance if the kids are really upset about missing the post season...
Give me a couple corners off that list and Ronald Johnson and I would be a happy man.
this feels like fantasy draft on madden. 'ooh I always wanted an all-american cornerback on my team.'
I would get such a raging boner if we could pick up some LB's or DB's from this.
Every time I talk about boners on mgoblog I get negged. Wtf?
How about the two guys from Michigan ? Johnson from Muskegon and the other one from Detroit
a Shareece Wright, a Michael Morgan, and a liter of cola.
What is the tail number? Can we find out if it went to california?
ogod -- not more flighttracker.
If Michigan can convince some of this kids to come,it's over, can't wait to September 4
They have a punter named Boomer? I mean, seriously. Boomer? For a punter? Too good.
didn't he end up going to USC?
How many could we take? At a minimum one slot is free with Dorsey out and I assume there are 1-2 more. A safety from their 2-deep would be an obvious player of interest, for openers.
I have this image of Rich Rodriguez pushing a shopping cart around the grocery store, whistling and smiling.....
I would imagine that juniors and seniors who are serious about graduation would think twice before transferring to another school. Keep in mind that the everything is not transferable and the degree programs may not be compatible. Plus realistically the pro scouts are still going to be watching USC probation or not. I don't expect a mass exodus from that school. IMO
will be looking to play. Let's hope the staff can pick out a couple of the DBs and talk to them about their future. Same as a one-and-done in basketball - let's get someone in here that can help the secondary out, even if for just a short while.
how bout just some good looking cheerleaders?
I don't see many of the NFL prospect guys leaving for M. A questionable shot at a bowl and a different system? The 12 regular season games will still be able to let the scouts see their abilities. Too bad, we could sure use some talented bodies.
Except college students sometimes have other goals besides going pro.
See: any athlete who stayed for a 4th or 5th year with a team that probably wasn't going to the BCS NC game. Players like winning bowl games.
"Fantasy Draft" LMFAO...do you guys hear yourselves? What a pathetic bunch you are! Oh what hard times Michigan football has fallen on to come to this. Ha ha ha....what a joke! Sitting around praying that a trojan will save your season....lol. Too funny. Oh and you wanna know what will really burn you....I won't be back to hear your responses! HAAAAAA lol. Just wait til the NCAA catches up to you and your wonderful coach! LMFAO!!!!!
