The Truth On The New Uni's Has Arrived

The Final verdict on the New Uni's is in:

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080713/SPORTS06/80713039

The Lightning Streaks on the Road Jerseys is the real deal. I'm okay with that. As long as the Home Uniforms stay the same.

I know tradition is important, and great at Michigan, but the Road Jerseys have always been subject to change, never having that same striking effect as the home uniforms.

So let them play with the road Jerseys some more. I bet they'll still be better than...... YOU KNOW WHAT?  I change my mind. Fuck these lightning streaks, this is Michigan Dammit!!!

DEATH TO THE PIPING.  PleaseOPlease make it stop; the piping haunts my dreams.

I really wish the Freep had a pic of the jersey rear - I wanted to see where the M's were -if it was on the collar or under it, and I'm interested in seeing how the road piping looks on the back.

Yeah, they don't even show the back in the official announcement:

http://mgoblue.com/football/article.aspx?id=141310

What's up with this tiny picture? It would have been nice to see several views and maybe even players modeling them. It looks like there are two huge vertical maize stripes on the back of the road jersey in the Free Press photo but maybe that's just the thing they talked about that keeps the jersey tucked in.

The U is going to 'officially' unveil them today. It looks like the Freep article was just a sneak preview. I'm assuming there will be players modeling them. The "M" is on the collar, not below it. For some reason, the replica jerseys look heinous and that is why the M was dropped lower. It entices people to buy the authentic. The replica road unis look...atrocious. Overall, I dig this design. I'm open to messing with the white jerseys anyways, so a little bit of side striping doesn't upset me.

They should have just gone all the way and put a crotch with snaps in it like a baby's jammy. The reception the jerseys get is directly proportional to the won-loss record. If we have a successful season, then the bitching about the road unis will be minimal. If god forbid we have a losing record, then the Uniform and Jersey Division of Ann Arbor Torch & Pitchfork will be doing a brisk business by season's end.

I don't care what they wear really. I'm glad M will make bank on the new purchases of the licensed goods. I also do see that it will be tough on some folks to rake $150 out of the wallet in today's economy. That's just the facts of life. Can't criticize folks for that. Unlike some comments I've read, I DON'T think you're "more" of a fan if you have the authentic or the replica or a Steve & Barry's T. As long as it's Maize & Blue, says Mighican on it, and you're showing pride in the team, I'm cool with it! Trust me, I catch HELL for wearing Michigan stuff to the gym in the land of Ohio State AND WVU but I wear it just about EVERY day. Let' 'em hate!!! I DO smell a LARGE sale on the NIKE versions though coming up VERY very soon. Someone let me know if you see one! LOL!
