Top OSU RB recruit arrested, may not make Fall semester

http://www.collegefantasyfootballinsider.com/stats/player-news.aspx?new… Report: Buckeye Jaamal Berry arrested CFFinsider Staff June 11, 2009 - Florida's CBS4 is reporting that Ohio State star running back recruit Jaamal Berry has been arrested on marijuana possession, though little more information is available at this time. A search of the Miami-Dade Clerk's website confirms this arrest. Berry, out of Miami Palmetto, is one of the more highly-regarded incoming recruits in the country, though this could certainly hinder things. --------------------------------- While this is not a huge blow to the Buckeyes as it would be to, say, losing your star running back after he files a falsified police report for those items stolen out of his 'borrowed' dealership SUV... it should be a minor blow to the OSU depth chart. Then again, when your starting QB is also your starting RB, FB and is an overall DB, maybe you don't need a depth chart at that position. Though this is not something Michigan fans can act like has not happened in the past, it does speak to the issue that certain teams are capable of recruiting athletes at a certain maturity/legality level. Every team is facing a loaded gun, sometimes literally, when it comes to a star prep athlete who has been showered with attention. That these student athletes then go off and do something dumb is not shocking but, rather, can lead one to miss the days when regional dynamics led to a 3-4 coach shuffle on where a player might go and not the circus it has become today. Sweater vest's calm disappointment to follow...

...however I see him as a 18 year old who can learn from this experience...and simply go forward with his head held high. Other than that...eff the buckeyes...really!

he will just keep taking classes while he's in there. I heard OSU put some faculty there to conduct classes since so many of their student body spends time in it. Also another plus for him: he will get a chance to experience being raped in The Big House before any of his other classmates do.

he belongs to one of the two schools that is made of teflon when legal/illegal things happen. We all know as long as it is OSU or USC the NCAA or the law in general will turn a blind eye/deaf ear to it, unless the problem is so obvious they HAVe to do something. Clarrett was one of those cases, Pryor, Bush and others are not. Am I bitter that those two schools seem to skirt the law constantly, while dominating their respective conferences...hel yeah I'm bitter. The way things are going, it's not who really runs the best program, but who can cheat the best and who can pull the right strings to cover it up. It seems Michigan doesn't have those strings, or better yet, has some integrity. Which, of course, cost the basketball program seven years of hell. Alabama is getting dinged for something that seems relatively insignificant compared to the like of Reggie Bush and USC or whatever the Vest is doing down south.

Why the FUCK would Pryor go the dullest offensive mind since anyone coaching the Lions? How many NFL QBs have the suckeyes produced? Do you think he went there so he could showcase what a great throwing QB he is? If you answered yes to either of the last two questions, you need your head examined. Every school gives players little extras, but corvettes, homes for the family and SUVs and large amounts of cash are not little gifts. At best Pryor will become the next Vince Young in the NFL - a zero. If you can't throw the ball with power and accuracy you have no chance, ask Joey. There's a reason Brett Favre is still talked about in NFL circles. Just like there's a reason no Steve Spurrier coached QB has ever been even decent in the NFL. Arm strength and accuracy. Brains help. If you think OSU and/or USC are clean, you're smoking something really good.

Is this really that important. UM has had its fair share dumb kids who got involved with the law (Grady, anyone...), but in the pantheon of thinks to rail against OSU, this is pretty minor. This is the type of post I expect to read about in the Freep or a Spartan blog with 900 1-line posts with words like "scUM" and "Walmart Wolverine" littered throughout.
