any truth to him(Hart ) commiting this upcoming weekend ? Read it in any earlier post.
I'm basically done moving and have the internet again. It might take a little while to get caught up, but here's the weekly update with information about this past weekend's visits, and a little extra as always.

Flint, Michigan (Powers Catholic)
Danny is and will be one of the top in-state prospects for the 2012 class. He'll also be vital to Michigan as they'll be looking for a big-time defensive tackle in 2012. O'Brien was in Ann Arbor for the Bowling Green game and received some good news:
I was at the game with my Mom and Dad, and Coach Rodriguez came and talked to us right after his press conference. He said that he can't give me anything in writing until next August, but that I have a verbal offer from the University of Michigan. My Dad is a Michigan fan, so he was excited, me and my Mom were really excited too. It's a relief to know that I have that offer in hand now.
O'Brien has Michigan and Tennessee (his first offer) as his top two for now, but plans to take his time and some official visits. Michigan has had an advantage distance-wise, as Danny has been able to attend every home game so far this year. Their performance is also helping:
I really like how Coach Rod has turned the program around. Before the season everyone was talking bad about him, and that this was his last season with Michigan. He's shut everyone up about that with these wins. I also like how aggressive the defense is, and I like Mike Martin, too. Denard Robinson is obviously fun to watch also.
O'Brien has homecoming on October 9th, but said he still plans on showing up to Ann Arbor to watch Michigan take on MSU.
As a bonus, Danny is best friends with 2012 in-state DE/DT Matt Godin, who loves Michigan. Godin will also be at the MSU game, and has been talking to Danny about potentially playing together in college. If Michigan continues to have a good season then Michigan could push themselves in the lead quickly for O'Brien.
6'2", 185 lbs.
Sylvania, Ohio (Southview)
Gant is the son of former Wolverine Tony Gant, but has said in the past that he's a fan of Ohio State. Michigan has done some good things in Allen's mind both on the field and in his recruitment. He got a chance to see both in person this past weekend, and liked what he saw:
The visit was good, and I got a chance to talk with the coaches too. We mainly talked about how the season was going, how I was doing, and we talked a little about school and the recruiting process too.
Gant hasn't publicly stated a top group yet, and he told me he plans on taking his time with things so he can take in as many schools as possible:
I can't really say there's a top group yet, I'm mainly keeping my options open to anyone right now. I'm looking around the country to see what would fit me best. There's no top list, but Michigan is a school that I really like, and they'd be in the top group if there was one. I really like the football facilities, and it's a great atmosphere to play in.
Like O'Brien, Gant plans on taking his time with everything and taking visits. Allen will be one of the top prospects in Ohio for 2012, and looks to be an excellent national safety prospect as well. Michigan needs to continue what they're doing and continue the contact with Allen to stay in prime position.

No, not sure which post that was in, but no.
So no truth to that?
i haven't heard of gant's high school. have we pulled anyone else from there in recent times?
Sylvania Southview is in NW Ohio just west of Toledo. I live about 20 minutes away from Sylvania. As far as any recruits from that HS going to UM is something I am not sure of.
Isn't there another player from Sylvania Southview that is a big time recruit also?
I went to Southview, never heard of anyone playing at a BCS school from there. Would be great to see this kid at M. I was recruited to be a polisci major at michigan so I can probably mentor him.
Man getting O'Brien and Godin would be great for the defensive line. Gant would be a nice addition also. Can't wait to beat MSU and start seeing some 'Hello' posts.
Would that put an end to all the Michigan has lost the family values meme hear on the internet?
I mean RR would be getting a former player's kid after all
and if we don't get Gant?
A picture speaks 1000 words, but this one speaks millions, and has a megaphone:
I just added this to the Avery Walls section, but he told me that he's going to be making his decision next month. He'll be at Oregon this weekend, then Cal on October 9th.
He's also graduating early, which is why he wants to make his decision this soon. The only thing that will hold his announcement up is admissions to the school he chooses. He has a 3.3 GPA, but he wants to make sure he's accepted to the school he wants to go to before he makes it public.
I really wish the other schools recruiting Walls had distinctly subpar academics so I could read way too much into this statement. So it goes. Really hope he goes Blue.
How is the new TomVHCave?? And exactly how much did your internet provider charge to run cable internet down through your basement and into a secret superhero lair?
Congrats, my friend... thanks as always.
Did Hart take his official for the UConn game?
Both Hart and Walls, who are graduating early, made their official at UConn.
What are our chance at getting Walls? The more I read about the guy the more I am hoping we land him.
Walls is more likely to be impressed with Jim Harbaugh's defense in Eugene this Saturday, IMHO.
To me the key to our recruiting class will be Hart's hopefully eventual commitment as well as our continued success on the field. In my opinion once one big time recruit hops aboard the class should start to fill quickly.
Thanks for the update. Again, I hope your move situation is cleared up. My guess is that Demetrius was waiting for your living situation to settle before delivering to us the great news.
As for Walls, do you think we are at a disadvantage in that he has already taken his official visit to UM while the rest are on the West Coast? It seems like for both Hart/Walls, two guys who are graduating early, not getting commitments during UConn weekend was a legit setback. I thought Stanford was our main competition for Walls .. but I could be wrong. I just thought that since Walls is mostly looking out West now, our lead might shrink in these weeks to come as he looks at a bunch of Pac-10 schools.
Should be an interesting weekend of visits outside UM. I seems like both Hart and Walls have serious clout with other prospects in the South so it would be a major achievement to land both and strengthen those connections.
No, I don't see it as a disadvantage at all. They have both stuck to their plans of taking these visits as they were scheduled. Just because these visits are after the Michigan trips it's not necessarily a bad thing. Anything can happen, of course, but it's not a disadvantage.
I went to Southview and can verify that Allen Gant is a stud and we definately want to go after him hard. Whatever "it" is, he has it. He started as a freshman on Southview's Division II state championship team two years ago at both receiver and corner and played big in the playoffs. Last year Southview moved up to D I and lost 3 games early barely missing the playoffs. They are undefeated so far this season and have a few nice athletes on the team. I don't believe anybody from Southview has played football at Michigan. They've had at least one kid make it to the NFL I know, but Gant is by far the biggest prospect whose come through there. The biggest Southview-Michigan connection would probably be woman's gymnast Beth Wymer who was bad-ass for M back in the 90's.
fellow graduate here. Yep, 1 NFL'r...class of '97's Khary Campbell (played LB at BG)
Whatever decision Hart makes we will be fine. Whether it's Nealy or Rawls we will land a play maker at the RB position. I'm more concerned with the defensive side of the ball which is shaping up to be the best defensive class in some time.
I agree. Although I really want us to get Dee Hart, and I have for a while, we will always be able to recruit good RB's with this offense, and turn average RB's into stars. I'd much rather start raking in defensive studs than offensive ones.
The one exception is offensive linemen, I always get excited about getting big OL's. A great O line can make a "meh" RB look like a star.
Gant can play. He's one of the best players in NW Ohio, yet I would still consider him underrated because he does not get the pub some of the other city stars. Plays in a smaller division and league, so maybe thats why, but Southview is a power program.
Anyway, everytime I watch Southview play, I fall for the kid's game more and more.
MICH needs to go get him.....and know that the Vest is a regular caller. I'm told he calls the SHS coach at least once a week.
Last time I saw him the SV coach (Mayzes?) didn't have eyebrows, is this still the case?
Gant looks like he's about 35 years old. Are we sure that isn't a photo of his dad?
Is Dee Hart still planning on an unofficial visit for the MSU game in Ann Arbor on Oct 9th? I hope he still is. That would make me a bit more comfortable after the back to back Bama games he will have seen.
I was wondering this also.
"Demetrius doesn't like to let anyone down, or hurt anyone's feelings."
Could this apply to UofM just as well as Auburn?
That exact same thought crossed my mind.
grow up as an Ohio State fan? (if they're not named Boren...)
I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the last time UM beat OSU, Allen Gant was 10 years old.
Heuerman. His dad played bball at UM. Considering our ongoing search for a TE, this was a tough loss.
his cousin is Charles Woodson!
Someone else brought this up earlier, but has D Hart made any comment regarding his style of play vs Bama's Offense?
Saban largely runs a downhill, physical run game offense. This style is better for more compact runners; those who may have speed but require a physical running style.
Now, I haven't seen Hart run aside from the highlights available, but wouldn't you say that his style is not best appreciated by the Bama system? Conversely, isn't RichRod's style perfect for Hart? When I think of Hart, I honestly think of Noel Devine, and Devine's style doesn't match up with a Bama Offense.
And as for Bama's recruiting of RBs, they are still well in the mix for Quon Bray even assuming Crowell goes for UGA. So maybe this will also sway Hart for us.
In fact, if anyone has a Crowell update, that would be great -- very relevant to our recruitment of D Hart.
You wouldn't think there would be a lot of players dying to go to Georgia right now...
We need the Gant kid. How do you let your kid even talk to the bucks when you went to michigan??
Could D Hart be the second coming of Mike Hart? That would be awsome. We need to land him bad also. What does it take to get that kid to commit? I thought we had him in the bag.
