TomVH: LB Sean Duggan Update

Submitted by TomVH on

LB Sean Duggan (St. Xavier/Cincinnati, OH) has an unofficial top 5-10 (11) schools that are sticking out to him. He told me he has a lot of great schools after him, so his list changes every day.

The two that seem to be sticking out the most, at this point, are Wisconsin and Boston College. He said, they're not really his official leaders, but they stick out right now. The rest of the list includes Michigan (top 5), Virginia, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Oregon, Minnesota, and Arizona, Louisville, and NC State are tied. (Yes, I realize that's 11).

His father and grandfather both went to Notre Dame, so the rumor goes that he too will have a golden dome. Sean said that Notre Dame hasn't offered, so he's not worrying about them, and that he doesn't want to be someones second option, either. He wants to go to a school that wants him as much as he wants them.

He seemed pretty genuine in that, and I have to take him for his word. If Brian Kelly swoops in on a silver horse, with an offer in hand, they might still ride off in to the sunset, but I can't tell. He made it pretty clear that the rumors about Notre Dame leading, even if they were to offer, needed to be squashed.

He's been in contact with Coach Dews and Singletary, and finds them both very easy to talk to. He and Coach Dews have a few things in common, which has made the conversation easier. Sean was also excited that Michigan has a strong need at the linebacker position. He won't be at Michigan's elite camp, because he already has an offer, but is very excited to visit campus soon. His list will continue to change as he takes more visits, but he was adamant that Michigan is near the top.

Kris frost is goin to Ann Arbor during Summer. Hoefully he'll commit before the season starts. As for other ILB, of course we all want DePrriest but it seems we have a pretty good chance with Travis Hughes. I want us to get Grant (but i think he's projected OLB) that's all i know of so far.

UM just offered Kellen Jones from Houston St. Pius X, he's probably a MIKE at 6'1, 210. Michigan was his dream offer, and we're the team to beat.

Also, keep an eye on Detroit Southeastern's Ed Davis. He really likes Michigan, and will probably hit the camp circuit hard in the summer to try and earn a UM offer.

keeps racking up the offers.

I wonder if Dorsey getting in or not will have anything to do with whether or not we offer Turene.

According to Tom, USC is the latest to offer Turene.  With a Bama and USC offer, you know he must have the ability.

I believe Tom said that his interest in the school itself is what's driving his desire to land a Michigan offer, as opposed to just Dorsey. Either way, it seems like the coaching staff will try to get Dorsey on campus at some time or another even if he doesn't qualify. On a side note, I read another small blog that people were freaking out and thinking that with every offer this kid gets from the USC or Bamas in the world we sink out of his mind a little more, I don't think that's true. We're recruiting him hard and he knows the only reason we haven't offered yet is that we're trying to get academic issues out of the way first.

Completely. What I meant to say was, I wonder if UM is waiting to offer based on whether or not they can get Dorsey admitted to the university. There have been rumblings that the admissions dept are being more strict on those that are on the bubble. Not sure how much truth there is to that but I think it's worth considering.
